Stopped at Coos Bay and found the Blue Heron German restaurant and decided to check it out after finding a place to stay. We went for dinner and there is parking on the side street where the restaurant is located. It's on a corner block. Something was amiss as others were waiting to be seated. There was only one wait staff and she was flat out. We waited over 10 minutes and just went past the others and sat at the bar, picked up a couple of menus. She finally had everyone seated and it was clear that there was not enough staff on duty. Apparently the owner took off in his car to pick staff up. Never mind it was just a glitch in the system. We ordered Weinerschintzel with sauerkraut & garlic mash potatoes with gravy on the side. They provided a soup or salad starter. Huge servings and all simply delicious. Yes, worth the wait!! Loved the German Pilsner.
