De Ponte cellars winery is in Dayton Oregon not Ohio. It is located off a gravel road that connects the Red Hills (where Stoller, domaine drouhin , and domaine serene are located) and the next hill where Archery Summit is located. Very friendly staff, unpretentious tasting room, excellent variety of wines plus outdoor seating. The two library style pinots, the Shirley and Baldwin show the skill of the winemaker at her best. A summer time favorite is the white Dijon Melon. They also have a sister location in the old firehouse in nearby Carleton. When visiting the Dayton area wineries do not overlook DePonte
Wow are the wines good here AND the people really laid back and totally chill...
Joined their wine club on the spot and still a member to this day!
Very close to White Rose and Domaine Serene wineries, but this very small winery is great to visit and wine taste. Took home some bottles to enjoy.
We were fortunate enough to experience the Du Ponte Cellars home for 3 nights. It is amazing with beautiful views. We had friends form Dallas and Connecticut that joined us. It is an impressive home with an huge deck overlooking the vineyards. Rae, who by the way is fantastic, took care of every detail. She found a private chef to cook for us, contacted local restaurants for us and was on to of every request we made prior to check in. There is every cooking appliance you could want for indoors and outdoors. We made breakfast on an EVO! We are all looking at dates to return next year! Love the Pinot too!
While we enjoyed our visit to De Ponte, it wasn't the most memorable. It was a pretty property and the wines were good, but I'm not sure I'd say great. However, we loved the 2009 Estate Pinot Noir. We also liked their Rose this year.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The property was pretty and we liked the idea of renting the home on the property to share with friends. They have lots of options associated with that and not many wineries can boast of this.
We just returned from a visit to De Ponte Cellars Winery. As noted by others, the tasting room is beautiful, with a wonderful view from the patio. Unfortunately, the wines themselves did not live up to the views. They were fine, but nothing special. The tasting fee ($15) seemed high, given the wine prices ($24-44). I expected this from Archery Summit Winery, but not De Ponte. To be fair, our experience was tainted by unfortunately arriving when a tour bus was inundating the tasting room, but nonetheless we would not recommend the wine tasting.
