Don't bother with older reviews as this property has undergone a complete makeover. It seems the original 12 or so units have been refurbished, and supplemented with a completely new wing. We stayed in the new wing. The beds were comfortable and the unit nicely finished. It's all very new.

However, there are a few pitfalls. Rooms 223, 224 and 225 are 'suites': rooms with a little extra space that is packed with an odd collection of furniture, and a balcony with distant views of the mountain but no outdoor furniture (yet) so you can sit out there and enjoy the sun. These rooms are above the office and manager's residence so have a lot of noise (the chimes that go off every time the office door is opened, and quite a lot of children's chatter).

The floor seems to have been constructed with little soundproofing. So too the walls. Special thanks to the folk from the Midwest staying next door who thought it was quite acceptable to talk loudly at 6 am because it was 8 am on their clocks. The toilets have seats but no covers, rather like a public lavatory, which is somewhat disgusting.

This was a stop on a long driving trip and as the reviews were good and the price was right we took a chance. The rooms are pretty standard, but everything was clean and working. It was very quiet even though the motel is convenient to the freeway and right across from a shopping center, a real perk for tired traveler. The mattress was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The pillows were pretty thin, so we were glad we had our own. A small annoyance was the lamps which had wobbly light bulbs (hard to describe).

Room Tip: We had a downstairs room. We were surprised to smell cigarette smoke and see that there was a seating area for smokers outside room 105.

We arrived in Hood River in need of a place to stay for one night. We got the last two rooms at The Sunset Motel, pretty well everywhere else was full.

The motel had been recently refurbished a decent standard. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable and the staff very helpful.

The view from our room wasn't up to much (a big pile of mud ;-) ) but we were there for one night, so that was not an issue.

Across the road was a supermarket and coffee shop, so everything that we might need was very close at hand.

When we went out for dinner the manager was good enough to recommend places to eat.

We'd stay there again if a trip through Hood River was in our plans.

The room we had was a little smaller, but it has been recently remodeled and is like new. The bed was very comfortable. the location was close to the center of town, but not noisy. the desk staff was friendly and helpful.

This lace was great! All newly redone with nice decor very clean, quiet location from the freeway, coffee set up, tub/shower, separate sink area, nice towels. Very reasonable price. It is about 1 mile from historical downtown, but parking was not difficult. Would stay again, for sure! Great wifi
