The room was very clean and comfortable with a great view. I always get rooms with a kitchenette for flexibilty and the fridge, sink, microwave and kitchen furnishings took care of my minimal needs. The beach access is excellent as long as stairs are OK.
The staff was friendly and efficient.

If a fireplace is important to you, as it is to me, this is not the place to rent. The "fireplace" was actually a small electric heater with fake flames. The only time the flames were visible was when the heater was on so once the room was at a comfortable temperature, no more "fire" unless you wanted to swelter. I also prefer hotel/motel rooms that are a little more funky, with a little more personality.

This would probably be a great room for most people so I would recommend it

The rooms when booking Starfish are deceiving. The staff was not very helpful to us when we stayed on our honeymoon and were not satisfied with our room. The balcony we received was one of the only non private ones. I was very unhappy about it and there was no willingness to help us. The room itself is nice, with a nice big tub. The view is nice, but room 5 does not have a private balcony. The double shower heads in theory was nice, but one just hung there, unable to be moved and the drain couldn't keep up with having both on.So showering with both at once, was not an option. There is also NO beach access here. This hotel sits on a mini cliff. The only way to get down to the beach is to walk down the street to Beachfront Manor and use their stairs (there are a TON of them). Overall, it is a decent place, but we will be looking elsewhere next time.

Stayed two nights and we're delighted. The rooms were clean and modern, the views were to die for. Jetted tub was delightful. It's in a safe neighborhood so we literally slept with the balcony door wide open to hear and feel the ocean. Only downfall is no direct access to beach from hotel, however there are multiple beach access points nearby (walking distance).
The front desk staff were outstanding. Viennese really went above and beyond to help us enjoy ourselves and maximize our experience to the area. She had great recommendations of places to go and eat and was always smiling and friendly. Thank you for a wonderful experience

I recently stayed in Room 4 of the Nelscott Manor. My g/f and I made the trip to witness the 2017 solar eclipse.

- We could never figure out how to turn off the small pilot light in the fireplace which warmed the room by nearly 10 degrees every night.

- We also could not get the climate control to work. The thermostat seemed to function (and is the same model as the one we have at home, so we know how to use it) but no discernable heating or cooling took place. We resorted to opening the windows and doors to control the temperature of the room.

- We had no bar soap and were lucky enough to hear a member of the custodial staff servicing a nearby room and obtained one small bar.

- The crack under the room's front door was quite large and could really benefit from weatherstripping. Also, the gap admitted a great deal of light into an otherwise dark room during the evening when we were trying to sleep.

- We saw wispy cobwebs around the ceiling in the bathroom and the bathroom light fixture was filled with small debris.

- the dual head shower was nice, but the shower heads were effectively under the six foot level, requiring me (at 6' 3") to stoop in order to shampoo my hair.

-the beach access was nice, but of course the beach was socked in by fog all three days we stayed there.

-in a throwback to the review by the gentleman that smelled bacon throughout his stay: the stairwell (not our room, luckily) smelled of maple and oatmeal for our entire stay, beginning on the first morning. Weird but tolerable.

-We were told we would be emailed a bill after we checked out; we have not yet received it. We did, however, receive an automated "how was your stay?" email which I replied to with my above concerns. Five days later, no response.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay but, at the rate charged for the room, we expected a higher level of execution.

On the plus side, the evening clerk on August 20th (whose name escapes me - Sean? Eric? Jason?) could not have been more helpful or accommodating.

The hot tub worked as advertised (a rarity in our experience), the room was clean and the bed comfortable.

All of the appliances, silverware and such were not used but their availability was appreciated.

Parking is right in front of the property and I never had an issue with it (after I grabbed a pair of scissors out of my car and trimmed a blackberry vine that kept sticking us and threatening to scratch the car).

The gift basket with the two pairs of eclipse glasses was a nice touch. Ironically, we had run the gauntlet of buying glasses that were later deemed unsafe the day before we left for the trip, then trying to locate replacement glasses in a last-minute run that saw widespread shortages in our area; had we known they would be provided by the property, we could have avoided a lot of stress!

Room Tip: Beachfront room with a balcony and hot tub is the way to go.

We had a room with hot tub on the deck, kitchen and 2 bedrooms. This particular room had a separate entrance and was really quiet. Everything was clean, and was set up for a great romanticgetaway. We stay at the Starfish Manor for our anniversary and it never disappoints. We are glad that this hotel does not allow children under 18. Access to the beach is just around the beach corner. No AC but if you open the balcony door it cools it off nicely.
