Description: Ruddick/Wood is a casual restaurant and tavern serving locally focused, seasonal, new-American fare alongside craft beer, wine and cocktails in a renovated 1920s garage in downtown Newberg, Oregon. Ruddick/Wood has been built around the idea of country kitchens, roadhouses, saloons and way-points; and reflects our love of local food and drink, as well as our desire to create a place that is part of the community fabric. Think dinners of wood-fired steaks, roasted fish and flatbreads; vegetable plates and salads; house-made desserts; and rotating snacks all changing with the season. Think of classic cocktails; small-batch spirits; craft breweries; and lesser-known wineries. These are the things that make Ruddick/Wood what it is.

The staff were extremely friendly. The food was very good. The beer appeared to me to be served in a small glass not worth the money.

We loved this place when we first moved to the area and it was in our top 5 list, but since it has gotten very bad. They do not know how to make beignets (mostly uncooked dough. We've ordered them on two separate occasions and they could not get then right either time.) My wife recently ordered a steak sandwich and got hard bread filled with sliced fat...one small piece of actual meat that was the size if a quarter. I did like their hazelnut romesc sauce but our past couple of experiences have been awful. Unfortunate.

Good food, cozy atmosphere. Hazelnut biscuit was one of the best uses of this regional specialty (hazelnuts) I experienced.

When you arrive and have to wait almost 30 minutes for a table, it suggests the evening may not go well. When half the table gets apps and the other 1/2 doesnt get them for 15 minutes because they "ran out of bowls" it just adds to the misery. Also ran out of red wine glasses. In wine country!!?? Would give them a worse rating if the food wasnt decent. It was OK, but nothing special.

A shop owner recommended Ruddick/Wood for lunch so we gave it a try on a rainy afternoon. We arrived at the noon hour and the place was packed. Waited several minutes to be acknowledged and seated. We had a table for two. One side was a bench where patrons sat next to us, close enough to hear their not-so-privatee conversation. They jabbered about a real estate deal and took up at least an hour off time during the busy lunch hour - ordering only a dish of fries for four people. Rude!

Back to the restaurant. The food was homemade and the menu eclectic. I first decided on the tamales, but they had run out, so I ordered a steak sandwich. It was fantastic.

The atmosphere is rustic, the menu eclectic, but the food is fantastic.
