We loved our stop at Powell’s. The store is huge, but very well organized and there are a ton of helpful people. The parking was great. Free for the first hour and very cheap for a couple of hours. Everyone found something they wanted to read and bring home. Worth a stop!

This is a bookstore with almost everything (it had an out of order bathroom while we were there...please de-gender your bathrooms or women will need to liberate the men's room). Magazines of all types, books, fun posters, socks and doo-dads, and books, books, books. There are new books, used books, textbooks, books by local authors, books on sale, books for children, young adults, and the long grown. There is a coffee room, places to sit and browse, and it's as big as many local libraries.

We go here at least one a month, and it never gets old, in fact, it’s always “new”.
One of the nice features is you call sell your already read books back, which we’ve done for years.
Our Grandkids love this place.

Yes it can be hard to park-there is a parking lot close, but in my experience it’s often full. Yes it will probably be raining when you walk from your car or the max light rail stop. But it you like books, new and used, this store is a huge fun maze of all kinds of books. The rooms are color coded by category (for example, mysteries might be in the gold room, automotive in the red room) and they provide free maps, as well as lots of signage, and staff recommendations. And isn’t just books-they other have fun Portland souvenirs and gifts. There is also a coffee shop on site. I am in Portland a few times a year and I never miss Powell’s. Highly recommended.

I could have spent my entire visit to Portland in this store. There is something for everyone. I spent hours here and I wanted to go back. Can’t say enough about Powell’s for book lovers. There is something wonderful about the heft of a book in your hand, being able to peruse the pages. I found old favorites and discovered fives of new ones. and hey.. the cafe is a great place to take a break and have some tea and a chocolate covered shortbread.
