We liked the garden. It is well laid out and very cool. It was a lot smaller than we anticipated. After we finished it felt like a lot of money for the time spent.

This was a nice, quiet morning spot to unplug and enjoy the sights and sounds of a true Chinese garden. Lots of beautiful greenery, unique architecture, and there is even a teahouse to enjoy snacks and tea accompanied by authentic Chinese music. While it was much smaller than expected (you can cover the grounds in just under an hour), it's a relaxing place worth checking out. There are also little study rooms with displays like Chinese zodiac drawings (this year being the Year of the Dog) and even a calligraphy station to practice writing in Chinese. You are also given a guide brochure upon entry that maps out the garden. Tip: Bring your student ID for an admission discount.

I stopped here as part of a city tour so only had 30 minutes inside. While I was able to get to all that was there, I missed out on being able to sit and relax in this beautiful location. There was a young lady playing a Japanese harp in one of the rooms. Delightful music. I suggest at least an hour to visit these gardens.

I was interested to see this garden after reading that it was compared to gardens in Suzhou. I had just visited one of those gardens and was eager to see one in the US. It was incredibly similar, right down to the amazing paving mosaics that I fell in love with in China. Late March many things were in bloom and leaf already. It is easy to walk around and enjoy the different views and vantage points. Most of the buildings have art and artists on display. We didn't visit the tea house. Unfortunately the garden isn't in the nicest part of Portland, but once inside you feel perfectly tranquil. There is a guided tour available.
