Very good option for a casual spot with a neighborhood feel in Montavilla. I enjoyed lunch here with a friend I hadn't seen in years. We sat and kabitzed over the wonderful oregano fry bread which is an absolute MUST menu item. Even if you aren't super hungry, at least order it to go so you can enjoy it later.
The tomato basil soup was the soup of the day and the perfect warm-me-up on a cold and drizzly Portland day, and the best thing is that it was vegetarian -- no chicken broth -- YAY!
I typically don't like to order veggie burgers when I dine out as so many of them are just packaged burgers that are thawed out. However, The Observatory makes a really good homemade quinoa-mushroom veggie burger that did not disappoint. I ordered it sans the bun, and it was the perfect match with that soup!
Really good and attentive service topped off this experience. I'll be back!
