Staff at this restaurant are warm, inviting, and helpful. The atmosphere is good with a well stocked bar and some interesting wine and beer selections. They have a very good dark beer on tap if you like porters. Portland is not know for places that accept reservations, but this is one that does. We tried their fondue with apples, bread, and beer sausage to dip. The apples, bread, and sausage were very good. The fondue here was OK. But if you have ever had the real European fondue served in Germany or Switzerland you will be very disappointed with this fondue. It lacked the creaminess and rich cheese flavor with Kirsch that the real thing has. It also is served in a small metal bowl that keeps the fondue hot, but does not create the last of the fondue cheese crust which is created at the bottom of the classic fondue pot that is so often fought over in Switzerland. Beer sausage might be a better choice here. Right next door is a little German market where you can buy much of the items served at the Restaurant.
