We ended up stopping here to get out of stand still traffic during rush hour. It was a highlight of our trip in Portland. The trails were muddy but not difficult to walk on. We were so close to congestion but once you are on the trails it is as if you entered a place of serenity.

We hiked trails within the park as part of the 4T (Trail, Tram, Trolley and Train) experience. The trail portion of 4T was approximately 4 miles in length and was an easy to moderate hike (some of it was uphill). There are several trail alternatives other than what we experienced as part of the 4T. It is hard to imagine such solitude within a city. There are a number of trails within the park, and the Marquam train takes you to Council Crest Park with spectacular views of the city and Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helen and Mt. Adams on a clear day.

I've hiked here about 50 times, do it most every Saturday. Can bring your dog, but be able to control it! Different wildflowers at many times of year. Quiet. Can be some steep hikes. Wish the maps were more current, accurate, wish they'd add a new trail or two. Very easy to get to amidst urban environment. A great escape.

This is a great place to hike on a warm day as there is plenty of tree cover along most of the trail to keep the sun off you. It is very hilly so if that is not what you like, then not a place you want to hike. There are trails of varying lengths though so you can make it a short hike or a long one if you have the time. Easy to get too and near OHSU.

I am a biology teacher who lives in the desert. So for vacation, I wanted to visit a completely different biome, the Northwest Coniferous Forest. Hiking in this park, verified that the Pacific Northwest is the most beautiful biome in my eyes.

HIKING - My husband and I hiked this trail, and we are not in good shape, but it was very pleasant and we did not get too tired to go on.

FLORA/FAUNA - You MUST visit this park, the vegetation and creatures are so lovely! Your eyes will never get board because it is so unbelievable gorgeous everywhere you look!

TIME - We could have spent the entire day in this park. We visited after the Farmers Market on Saturday. We walked up to the park from a parking lot by the market. It was not a long walk, but there is free parking at the park.
