I hate not to give this little cafe a 5 star because the owner and hostess worked so hard and were so friendly, but the food just didn't work for us.

You could tell the ingredients were fresh, but none of the combinations seemed to really go together. We had pretty high expectations, but walked out kind of looking at each other with "what was that about?"

Soft drinks are $4. We've seen $3, but never $4. Anywhere. Otherwise the food pricing was OK for the venue, just not for the result.

Strong reviews otherwise, so it's possible they were doing some experimenting but I'd have preferred something more simple, or something that just hit a home run rather than a soft bunt.

Great Brunch. Everything was excellent and many unusual taste treats. I can imagine that dinner would be a taste treat, too.

Gourmet dinners and great service. The food here is what you might expect at some of the finest restaurants in LA, NYC, San Francisco, etc. A bit on the spendy side but certainly worth it if you want a wonderful dining experience. Also, they have a tremendous wine list as well.

What was Jen's Garden, widely viewed as the finest dinner dining in Sisters, has now become the Cottonwood Cafe, serving only breakfast and lunch. Fortunately, the ownership and management have not changed and neither have the freshness and creativity of their offerings. We happened to be there on the first official day of the re-named restaurant. Despite the new menu, we didn't detect any glitches in either the food or service (which was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive). The menu offered new twists on familiar dishes. For example, the pulled pork sandwich includes grilled pineapple. Since breakfast is available through lunch time, we couldn't resist trying one of the eggs benedict offerings. It was perfect. We will absolutely return!

This has been a perennial favorite of ours for wonderful 3 or 5-course fixed price dinners. Over a lovely dinner there this week, we just heard that within the next few weeks, they are ending dinner service and will switch to breakfast and lunch only, except for special-event dinners. Apparently their new offerings are to include a Bloody Mary bar, and they will add outdoor seating. Our waitress suggested that Sisters needs a good breakfast place (we submit that breakfasts at Black Butte Ranch are really hard to beat!), but it still makes no sense to me that a dinner restaurant with a following like this would completely change the format. Given their commitment to excellence, I am sure it will still be really good, but I wonder what will arise in Sisters to fill this niche. We will miss the dinners!

Thank you for your review and your continued patronage. Yes, it's true that mid April Jen's Garden will reopen as The Cottonwood Cafe. Jen's Garden has enjoyed a very successful 10 year run as a fine dining dinner restaurant and now my business partner and I have the luxury to 'switch it up a bit'. The Cottonwood Cafe will be a lovely breakfast/lunch restaurant serving creative, well prepared, locally sourced fare. Though we have loved creating and running Jen's Garden, it has become a 'special occasion' restaurant for many. We are looking forward to offering beautiful food that is more affordable and accessible to all. Please join us on our new and exciting venture. Warmly, Jen
