We were traveling to Chicago for our family Christmas and just needed an inexpensive place to spend one night that is pet-friendly. I found this hotel on hotwire and decided to give it a try. While it is obviously an older property, we found it to be clean and comfortable at a great price. Hot breakfast is included and consisted of eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, danish, bagels and more. We would stay here again for a good price, hot breakfast and adequate room.

We went to graduation at Bloomsburg U. Looking for a place that allowed pets. This was the ONLY ONE! I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom was a slight bit tiny, but shower had good pressure. Nice dog walk area. Breakfast was good and the breakfast area was clean and well stocked.

Room Tip: We had a pet room

Dear Gene A,

Congratulations on your recent graduate from Bloomsburg University! We are glad to be able to accept our canine friends along with their families here at Econo Lodge.

I am very happy to know you found your room and experience pleasing. This is our goal with all our guests for each and every stay. We appreciate you sharing this in your own words with other travelers so that they may be able to make an informed choice and give us a try!

We also recently updated our breakfast and we are very glad to hear that it was good. Our staff was excited to offer waffles and other hot items to our guests.

Please keep us in mind for any future travels to Bloomsburg as we continue to make improvements over this winter.

Many Thanks,

Montana-GM

Not the worst but close to it. If light sleeper ask for room upstairs and away from front desk! You can hear doors open an close all night. Also the Front desk person very friendly and jolly but She has a loud laugh and forgets people are trying to sleep at night! Room had to be 80++ degrees when we got in to it and had to run fan and open window. It was 36 degrees outside and room was still a bit warm. showers will have spouts of hot then cold. They are renovating but I don’t think they can fix plumbing, heating and noise issues.

Bathroom very small with toilet and tub in cramped area. Door swelling and curling and almost hits toilet. Sink in front of front door.
Bed old and had plastic mattress covers that trap air. Bed linens yucky. Nothing smelled clean either. My socks got dirty from carpet in just minutes. Towels small and frayed. Tv gets minimal stations.
Positives: Mini blow dryer worked fine and they have a nice breakfast layer out. Lots of truck parking.
If looking for budget hotels I would look at Red Roof Inn or something else.
Mall next to this hotel is 90% closed.

Dear Maureen D,

I am very sorry your stay with us was not up to your standards. I am going to assume that you stayed in 101 or 102 the nearest rooms to the lobby. Rooms 101 and 102 are highly requested by others and I cannot recall a time I have received a complaint about them. We try to accommodate every guest request we have, and I apologize the desk agents did not find you a room away from the front. Fortunately, light sleepers like you will be relieved to know those rooms will be removed from service as part of our lobby expansion plan. The third shift agent will be questioned about her noise level as usually there would be no reason to laugh when by yourself on that shift, or raise above an inside voice. Thank you for letting me know.

Our renovation plan is multi-tiered and plumbing will be addressed, as well as removing the front rooms, and updated heating air conditioning units. We do turn the heat on for our guests before their arrival, but I will speak with the staff about the temperature they set for arrivals. We equally would not want you to come into a cold room as our temperatures have varied lately. I appreciate your feedback on the matter as this will help us better prepare for our arrivals.

Throughout our plan to update we have also included the mattresses, linens and furniture. Eventually moving to the TV Channels. I am very sorry your stay was during this awkward phase of improvement. I am hoping that you will give us another opportunity to serve your lodging needs when we have some newer rooms completed.

I will also check into the cleaning record of those rooms to make sure they are keeping up with the cleanliness standards. We are fortunate our guests have the ability to let us know when things are not up to standard. Then we have the opportunity to fix them.

As the economy has changed the Mall and its occupants have changed as well. Like many malls across the country it also feels the effect of online shopping. They do have occupants in the mall that are not traditional filling the spaces and are not advertised on the outside. We certainly do not recommend it as a destination shopping mall, but is great for indoor exercise and does have a few small shops. We too wish they would find a way to express this on the exterior so travelers can know it is not as abandoned as it appears.

Obviously, there are other economy hotels in the area to lodge with, but of course we would like the opportunity to have you give us a second chance. We cannot change this most recent experience, but perhaps you can come back and see why many of our guests choose us over the others. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Sincerely,
Montana-GM

Our room was slightly older and showed some signs of wear, but was neat and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The morning breakfast was great. Good tasting food - eggs, sausage, cereals, bagels, yogurt - and coffee! Nice staff at hotel.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your lodging experience. It is very important to hear from all our guests about their stay with us as this helps to know where we need improvements, or where we meet our guests' standards. We aim to excel all those standards with each and every stay.

I am glad you enjoyed our new improved breakfast as we have added many new items including some hot items to our breakfast.

As we progress through fall we will be working on making many improvements to our aging property. We look forward to sharing those with all our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you once again. Thank you for your business.

Many Thanks,
Montana-GM

We checked in late after a day of travel and the room need updating and carpet cleaning. The next morning when we prepared the shower, the wash cloths were very stained, Shocking that they thought these were fine to use.

Dear Don S,

I am very disappointed that your experience with us was not a good one. Please accept my apologies.

Every review we receive whether positive or constructive criticism we take seriously. We use it to improve our services. In this instance housekeeping changed the way they inspect and re-stock a room after check out regarding the linens so there is a triple check system in play. Front desk was reminded to let every guest know at check in that if they have an issue to dial the desk right away and we will resolve it. If you had this info you could have called the desk and possibly moved rooms if another was available, and they could have brought you fresh linen. We wish that we could change your stay with us and hope that you can accept our sincere apologies.

I am very grateful you took the time to share your recent stay with us so we have the opportunity to improve. We hope that you would give us another chance to serve your lodging needs in the future.

Sincerely,
Montana-GM
