The room smelled like cigarette smoke, there was dirt on the bathroom floor, the tub looked like it had not been cleaned in a while. Also everything was very dusty. The room needed a good cleaning. Could hear all doors slam when they closed. Also could hear people in next room all night. Walls are very thin. Not a good experience at all.
On our way back from Florida, we knew it would be a 'push' to make it to Toronto, so we decided to stop at the Days Inn in Erie. What a great decision that turned out to be! Our encounter began with the front desk reception ... a skilled person who not only greeted us enthusiastically, but also asked if we were members of the Rewards Program. We were, but our 'account' was dormant. 'No problem' she responded and took it upon herself to re-activate our status, leading us to a substantial reduction in the cost of the evening's stay. Thank you.
It got better from there. The room was spacious and well-appointed ... a King size bed, a couch, a large screen TV with innumerable HD channels. Even though it was a weekend, the place was very quiet in the evening. Many amenities in the area from restaurants to mall. A super breakfast! What a nice way to end a 6-week holiday!
Since all hotel were booked in this area I stopped here. The check in person was rude and stressed the room was worn out but in the end was a quick stop to get some sleep.
First the parking lot was not plowed. Upon arrival our reservation was not correct. We had reserved at least a month before for two rooms with two beds and we only had one room correct. One of our party had to sleep on a couch. Also we were never informed that construction was going on at the hotel. The walls were filled with furniture and mattresses. Rooms were not up to our usual expectations from staying at other Days Inn.
