“this place is the best ice cream place ever”
Review of Twirly Top

Twirly Top
Ranked #1 of 1 Dessert in Gardners
Price range: US$2 - US$10
Description: The Twirly Top is a locally-owned and operated 1950's era drive-in restaurant and has been in operation since opening around 1952. Beginning as a small ice cream stand on the corner of Pine Grove Road and Route 34 in Gardners, PA, The Twirly Top, while still small, whips up only the absolute best soft serve ice cream in the area along with smooth shakes, floats, and sundaes, not to mention juicy burgers (always fresh, local, hand-pattied, 100% beef burgers), french fries, and more!

I've been going to the Twirly Top since I arrived in the area in 1993! An old drive-in type place that has soft-serve ice cream (thus the name), but just about any sundae, banana split, cone, or bowl you can think of. They even have a Doggie-Sundae, which is a small bowl of soft-serve vanilla ice cream with a dog biscuit stuck in it! You can also get the usual deep fried fares there. I'm probably missing something, their menu is so large and varied. When I'm in that area I make an effort to drive by and see if they're open. It sits on rt 34 a couple miles south of Mt Holly Springs.

This place has phenomenal soft serve ice cream! After two hours of hiking on the nearby Appalachian Trail we looked for the closest place for a snack and we came across the "Twirly Top". I tried the mint chip / chocolate swirl - its now my new favorite. Hands down the best soft serve ice cream in the area.

Started following on facebook to see their specials and flavors. Saw they had rootbeer soft serve and just had to make the drive. Not disappointed, great stop. Busy place on a summer night.
