Places like 'Pure and Simple Cafe' are few and far between in a world of corporate, generic GMO & ordinary. This sweet quaint INDEPENDENT cafe is run by lovely people who attempt to connect with their customers and graciously serve their needs with a mind toward healthy NON-GMO offerings. Their home brew coffees, sandwiches, pastries, and other confections are DELICIOUS and you won't need to worry about being poisoned by GMO glysophates. So if you care about your health and want a warm welcoming place to have breakfast or lunch, Pure & Simple Cafe is the place to go anytime you happen to be in the Tri-State area (MD, PA, WVA). The town of Greencastle itself is a beautiful, clean, historic little town right off of I-81 that will take you back to a kinder place in time....

The food is okay. I know they are known for their smoothies which is why I give them a 3/5. Don't go for breakfast if you like sausage, bacon or ham. Their coffee is very good and I like how they have the nectar and honey to sweeten it. One reason why I won't be going back though is because of my last visit with family. As I was eating my chicken salad wrap (which is okay) I turned to my right and could see back into the kitchen. As I did, I made eye contact with what I believe was a "cook" or food prepper licking a big spoon clean of whatever she just made in the stainless steel container in her other hand. I know it's just a spoon and it gets washed (hopefully) but just the idea of it grossed me out that she did that while she was prepping food to be served.

Trio advisor comes through again. On my way home from a lunch meeting, found this gem right off of 81 in south central Pennsylvania. Tomato and white bean soup was stupendous, not too thick and perfectly seasoned. I'll be back next trip!

I have enjoyed eating at this local cafe 2 times. The food is not only delicious, but it is healthy food. Most items are organic, and there are many gluten free items. I have had their soup of the day twice, black bean and chicken tortilla, and they taste homemade. The atmosphere is very pleasant and there are lots of windows. The staff is friendly. I definitely will visit again and try one of their gluten free desserts, they look decadent!

The title says it all. It is definitely healthy food but that's the only positive. For us it was overpriced. I got two scrambled eggs with toast and coffee. Just the plain eggs & toast were $8.00. Hubby got eggs and buckwheat pancakes which were too heavy and doughy even for him (and he's a big eater). The lady who took our order looked annoyed and bothered by customers. The girl who served our food was very sweet and cheery. The place is very clean.
