We eat here quite frequently, the menu would be for everyone. The prices and daily specials are great.
So, this restaurant has been around Greencastle, PA for many years. Recently though, the people they have hired to work there are of less and less quality. The food has always been decent, nothing fabulous, but good for a quick and cheap meal. Breakfast always comes very quick. Recently, I placed and order for pick up with some specifications (Nothing crazy), just the certain toppings on my sub, and gravy on the side instead of on the food. Normal requests. When I arrived to pick it up, it was already bagged up, so I asked the staff if it was the way I had ordered it and since I was being an annoyance with requests, I tipped extra on the PICK UP order. I get to work, and as soon as my colleague opened their order, it was wrong. Then, 3 hours later, I went to eat my sub-- that I had ordered completely plain.. no cheese, no toppings, nothing. meat and roll only. Well, when I open it up it had mayo and cheese on, and it was completely soggy.
So, I understand people make mistakes. BUT, my problem is, that I called back in to mention it to the manager. I didn't want anything free-- just wanted to mention that the boy who took the order and the same boy made the sub, assured me it was right but really didn't know what he was talking about. So I get to talk to Bryan. I had originally asked for Neal as he is very helpful and nice. But unfortunately, I got Bryan (Neal wasn't in yet).. He was no help. He said he didn't understand why I was upset and then proceeded to tell me to call back and talk to Neal. Next thing I know, he hung up on me.
Needless to say, I will not be going back anytime in the near future with Bryan Blockhead working.
This is a typical diner with good home cooking. Their hot roast beef sandwiches are delicious. They have a good variety menu. One thing I didn't like was the owner stands behind the counter and stares at the customers. Makes one feel very uncomfortable.
Nov 16th. I stopped in for lunch at 1:00pm. The waitress graciously served decaf coffee, Creamed Chicken on a Waffle, Mashed Potatoes and Lima Beans. As the Germans in Heidelberg say,"Mittagessen war lecker!" Lunch was tasty!. I will be back. Price was very reasonable.
