Review of Blackberry Grove

Blackberry Grove
Ranked #6 of 41 Restaurants in New Brighton
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$6 - US$64
Description: Blackberry Grove is a new independent bar and eatery close to the waterfront, in the thriving seaside resort of New Brighton. We are situated within walking distance of The Light Cinema, The Floral Pavilion Theatre, Fort Perch Rock Museum, and a variety of family attractions including Bubbles World of Play, The Fairground, Award Winning Crazy Golf Adventure Course and a number of sandy beaches. We are in a fantastic location for rail users, only a few stops from Liverpool City Centre and we are very close to the motorway. Opening in October 2015, we are thrilled to be launching at what is such an exciting time in New Brighton, with people constantly referring to days gone by. At its peak in the early 1900's New Brighton was one of Britain's most popular holiday resorts and boasted the New Brighton Tower, ballroom, outdoor swimming pool, pier, bustling shops, hotels, together with countless attractions and amenities. Sadly, some no longer exist but New Brighton has now become the 'New' New Brighton with a major £60 million redevelopment program which has added the New Floral Pavilion, the Marine Point leisure complex, supermarket and a variety of restaurants - with more extensive public works planned. Blackberry Grove has a rare, unique charm and atmosphere, with people often commenting on our homely feel. We serve breakfasts and brunches from 11am and serve right through to evening meals and beyond. We have an extensive menu and are particularly popular with vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free eaters. That said, our gourmet burgers and triple cooked chips are a big favourite with our carnivores. What has pleased us the most since opening is, we can see from our clientele, that we really do have something for everyone here, catering for both the casual and the serious foodie in an unpretentious environment. Find some time, come on down. There's nothing we love more than making our customers feel at home, at ease and relaxed. Let us take the weight and make sure you enjoy an all round good experience at Blackberry Grove. We look forward to seeing you soon Team Blackberry

My girlfriend and I went for easter lunch and each got the portobello vegan roast option. Everything was cooked beautifully and the combination itself was unique and delicious. For dessert we tried the vanilla and rose spongecake, a very subtle and enjoyable end to the meal. would highly recommend

Had a Sunday Roast with my partner - 1 veggie and 1 beef. Both were excellent. Food isn't cheap but tastes like it shouldn't be (also really not all that expensive either). Nicely decorated with a casual vibe and we were treated very well by the friendly owner and the chefs. Will definitely be returning...

We were disappointed at this bistro 18 months ago but always give a second chance. Unfortunately we won,t be returning. The service was "sloppy". We had to request cutlery, condiments and then milk. Cutlery was dropped by the young inadequately trained waitress. The place yet again was freezing due to the door bring kept open, I assume to keep the staff cool. The chef repeatedly called the waiting on staff when food was ready to be served. These plates of food were left on a hot plate/shelf right next to the open door and as a result were lukewarm when delivered. To add insult to injury as i was about to eat my meal the young waitress quickly took the plate from under my nose saying it was not mine. It looked like mine?! I,m amazed that this place has any good reviews but perhaps the vegan/veggie set have low expectations?

This restaurant is a really inconsistent place. After the last enjoyable visit, my colleague and I decided to go again on Wednesday, keen to support a local small business. I cannot say we had a terrible experience but there were so many small niggly issues. Let me start with the GOOD: The mains were really delicious and well cooked as were the chips and chantenay carrots that came with them. We both enjoyed them greatly. Now the BAD: Most of the starters were off the menu, forcing us to miss a starter; several mains were also off; also there was no broccoli as a side veg. (Why this was, considering there are 2 supermarkets in walking distance, I fail to see.) Additionally our waitress brought the wrong bottle of wine, which we unfortunately failed to notice until sipping it. However the bottle was changed without fuss. Finally the POETRY: We were pleasantly surprised to witness a live poetry reading session from a local group, a first for me. We enjoyed it as accompaniment to our meal but were not sure what the birthday party on another table thought......We were quite full after the main course and decided to forego a dessert, but enjoyed a slice of brownie from the birthday table. It is good to see Blackberry Grove putting on local events/sessions but they do need to get better organised as the chef is clearly very good and it is a nice place.

Many options for all, I had a vegan pulled pork burrito with chips and a vegan white chocolate and raspberry cake. Was beautiful! Very attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend!
