On arrival the window in the room had been left open all day so it was freezing. Took ages for it to heat up with the one small electrical heater in the room! Room fairly basic and small.

No hot water in shower whatsoever. Water didn’t even slightly warm up. Had to have a freezing shower!

The bed was by far the worst part of the stay. Felt like I was lying on pavement all night. Such a hard, uncomfortable mattress and only 1 pillow provided.

It felt like the walls were made of paper - everything could be heard from neighbouring rooms, hall ways and even outside.

Had read the previous reviews but preferred to withhold judgement until we had been ourselves.
The check in on Friday 31st March was good and straight forward and well explained by the reception, thats the best bit done and dusted, ( ohh don’t mention the dust on the shelves where we had to put our clothes) we were given a 20% off voucher for all meals in the adjoining pub so went over at about 3.00 pm to book a table for the evening only to be told they were fully booked until tuesday the 3rd April ( the day we were due to leave) we we’re told that we could come over and try but we would have to wait on a first come basis. (Might has well been 100% off) needles to say we ate elsewhere all weekend.
The rooms are nice a well equipped with kettle drinks and hair dryer tv etc...we were told to leave any towels we wanted changing each day in the bath / shower and they would be changed along with top ups of tea coffee milk etc..........we had to go to reception to get fresh towels as the wet ones were still in the shower when we returned in the evenings and we had to collect tea coffee and sugar from the reception as they had no beeen replaced.
The lady on the reception was very helpful and quickly dealt with our requests for replacements but she appeared to be working the bar in the pub and was running the reception, running between the two most of the time.
We went over the pub for a drink on the Saturday about 5.00pm and waited about 20 minutes while staff just came behind the bar got a drink didn’t even lookup to see if there was anyone at the bar and disappeared for another 5 minutes then returned and did the same again without even a “ we’ll be with you in a minute”. Then the lady who was running the reception arrived and all seamed great for a while then she disappeared again to attend to guests.
We got talking to some regulars who said that this pub had gone downhill quite a bit since they had last been there.

Went here for lunch and the restaurant was extremely chaotic. No one at the bar, numerous areas and tables showing as reserved (only because the staff could not keep up with orders), too few waiting staff and dirty tables/glasses piled up. The staff who were there were pleasant and efficient and tried to deliver a service. however, bar staff didn't know whether they served Hendricks and they had run out of clean glasses.... Food was average pub food. Tasty enough but quite pricey (unless you take advantage of the two for one, then it would be ok). There needs to be enough staff to cope with the demand, clear tables (and food from the floor), prepare the drinks orders and offer a higher level of service. I really feel for the few staff on shift.

A big clean room, comfy bed, hot shower, kettle with both T bags, coffee and bottled water. Friendy staff.

However the attached pub was pleasant enough, nice atmosphere and good selection of drinks, though glasses were not cleaned properly.
The food, was good, hot and tasty, reasonably priced (£8-£20) 2 for 1 deals, steak and the mixed grill was delcious. Friendly staff and good service.

Room Tip: Although a single traveller, I got a family room which was more than large enough especially if you envisage spending a lot of time in it.

This is based round a very old attractive farm house. Good sized room. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Good breakfast.
Good value, though they put their prices up at peak times.
Bottled water, Chocolate drinks and lots of biscuits which were refreshed daily.
Only one chair between two, and no toilet brush.
