The food was brilliant as was the service. One of the best meals I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. Will definitely be back. The chef was also very accommodating of food allergies that one of us had

Visited A Cena with my mother in law, father, wife and daughter on a cold and wet March afternoon. Arrived at 12:15pm and we were the first there. Seated at a lovely round table in the centre of the room. Tables well spaced apart and dressed with crisp white linen table clothes. Atmospheric Italian classics played discreetly in the background. Served promptly and efficiently. Offered and accepted tap water which came in two large jugs so that we did not have to continually hound the waiting staff. Oil soaked hot bread was a great start. Daughter, aged eight, offered a choice of spaghetti or breaded chicken. Surprising she went for the chicken which was freshly cooked, slightly lemony and very moorish. Father had prawns with a spicy Asian sauce with the braised beef while all of the other adults had risotto to start and the braised beef for mains. Everything that I eat was delicious. The risotto was a decent sized portion but was not heavily laden with cream and tasted of basil, lemon and parmesan cheese. I could have licked the plate. The braised beef came with rocket and an olive oil mash. It was very peppery and the meat was rich and tender. Fantastic! Desserts of panna cotta, affogato and mascarpone cheesecake completed the meal which was a triumph. All washed down with a very reasonable bottle of Italian Syrah. Best Italian meal I've had in London in a long time. If you want great service, a beautifully appointed room and flavoursome expertly cooked food at a reasonable price head to A Cena just over Richmond Bridge in St Margaret's. You won't be dissapointed.

Saturday night, and the restaurant was full and lively. Tables well spaced. Great welcome from owner, Justine. There are lots of smart staff, who are helpful and on the ball. Menu reads very seasonally and appetisingly, with lots of veggie options too, and the results were delicious:including mozzarella with chick pea pancakes, lamb with mint salsa verde. Really inviting wine list, all Italian (a good sign in an Italian restaurant, obviously) with useful short descriptions; I asked for guidance and was not pointed to the most expensive.
Definitely going to return.
