Description: Recent build in very traditional style. Good average Tabletable establishment with good value food in small Market town. A good option for locals and visitors. Worth a Tripadvisor listing.

Food ok service very poor, waited over half an hour for a drink, had to ask twice. Waited for table to be cleared whilst server swept floor opposite. Pub not busy so don't understand their service problem.

Met some friends here that we havent seen for many years..The man who greeted us was very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome. The man behind the bar however was slow and didnt even smile. We sat for our meal and although it was a rather long wait the guy who greeted us first came back to check we were ok. (good job we were busy having a catch up or we as a couple would not have been happy at the wait). The food came and the men enjoyed their burgers but not the thin chips..us 2 ladies enjoyed our thick chips but the steak was just 'ok'. We had a 40% off voucher so this outweighed any unsatisfactory bits. Would we return ? maybe

We were served today by Ian and he was efficient, friendly and made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Well done Ian. The menu is large and varied and the food came out quickly and was well cooked. It is pub food but good pub food. Was served hot and all our plates were cleared (a good sign).

Heard about this place through a friend and gave us a voucher for 40% off so as we were down here for a few days we decided to see for ourselves what it was like.

I wouldn’t bother personally.

We didn’t book a table and then was told it would be over an hour wait for a table in the restaurant and said if we wanted to, we could try and find a table in the bar area to sit and eat. Being a Thursday night we didn’t really see any point in booking as what’s busy on a Thursday?
The man who “greeted” us seemed stressed.

Not wanting to wait that long to even be seated we decided to get a table in the bar. We found the only one left that had dirty plates and glasses on it and after being sat there for a good 15 minutes they then saw us and cleaned off the table but never bothered to wipe the surface down with anything so it had left over food on it.

After that my partner went up to the bar to order food which was fast so things were looking up, especially with the 40% voucher we had but then the food came out...

I had the new lasagna which was Spinach, Feta and Sweet Potato which was terribly bland, had only about 3 bits of sweet potato inside and no flavour whatsoever and the garlic flatbread that accompanied it was cold. My partner ordered from the specials board and had the Cluck and Ale burger which sounded good but was a massive let down. The batter was so overly fried it tasted foul, it tasted like chip shop batter and did not live up to the name! Nothing Ale like about his burger at all. The spicy mayo that accompanied it was not spicy mayo.

The men sat at the bar ogling the young girl behind serving which was off putting and there didn’t seem like there was enough staff all round.

A disappointing meal out to say the least.

The menus were presented well and the toilets were nice though....

Here's a pub that sends out promotional vouchers to the surrounding area to attract new business and then decides to time it with maintenance on the kitchen/cookers so you end up with a very reduced menu. Not great when you drive 30 mins for a family tea.
