We visited mevagissey back in August 2017 & said we would done there next time we were down, So my partner booked a lovely house for my birthday surprise in mevagissey, So we went to the fountain for a evening meal, We arrived & were welcomed promptly by the very friendly & helpful staff, I opted for the special that was sole & was perfectly cooked & came with a choice of fries & peas or fresh vegetables & potato Pattie & my partner had scallops that were also cooked to perfection, We also monitored other dishes that were coming out to include traditional fish & chips, cooked fresh to order, fisherman's pie, fish stew & many more great dishes from the menu, There is also a wide variety of of real ales & wine, We will be returning to the fountain before we head back to hampsire, But we can highly recommend the fountain to anyone looking for a very welcoming comfortable place to dine.

A proper traditional, old style pub, set on a cobbled stress just back from the inner harbour. The sort of pub I’d imagine the fishermen of Mevagissey popping in to, after a long day work at sea! Very much an authentic pub & ‘local’ feel to it. Nice atmosphere & appeared steeped in history.

Saw takeaway fish & chips advertised (until 9pm) and with the local chippy closing at 7pm, decided to give it a go! Rang the pub and order was ready for collection after 10 minutes.

One part of the pub appeared to be the area for drinking specifically and another area, through a door, was more of a restaurant area. Limited amount of seating, but a cosy feel to it. No views of anything and tucked away.

Fish & chips was nice. Cost £7, which included an additional mushy peas. Hot, crispy and tasty. Whilst waiting, I checked out the food being served at the tables. Appeared to be traditional, basic pub food which i’d like to give a try one day.

Friendly staff. Had a good meal.

This is a great English (Cornish) pub. St Austell ales and a Fish Pie to die for, couldn't wish for anything else. The bar staff are absolutely brilliant and welcoming, so if you are aiming for Meva in the near future, pay a visit to this pub, you will not be disappointed.

Visited this very friendly pub in Mevagissey during our weeks stay, we had fish and chips, I chose the ‘freshly landed’ hake, my husband the sole both were large portions cooked to perfection and very good value. Loved the ambiance and the fact that the locals chatted to us. We will be back without a doubt!

We enjoyed two excellent meals here in late February: it remains the essential destination in Mevagissey for those who like quality traditional pub food. The Fountain has real character, is very well run, and is well supported by those who live in Mevagissey. The fish dishes are first rate: fish and chips - hake when we were here - are a signature dish, with locally caught fish served as Specials regularly. There is also a gigantic mixed grill which should not be undertaken lightly! The menu overall is an excellent example of a well considered relatively limited selection of dishes all of which are reliably done well. Food is served in the bar, which can get very busy: there is a restaurant upstairs, which is quieter. Service is cheerful and welcoming, prices are competitive, and there is a good choice of refreshment on draught. Strongly recommended for good food, well served in an inn of great character. Understandably, it gets busy, so booking is strongly recommended too.
