The Lost Gardens of Heligan

We came here last year whilst on holiday down here at Easter and had a fab day so had to come back.

We went to Eden earlier in the week so picked up a leaflet offering 10% discount which was a bonus

This year they have the scarecrows wedding - which was different to last year and thoroughly enjoyable ! We bought the book when we paid for entry and followed the yellow ribbons round for the trail

The treat is a very small chocolate egg or one sweet! Which was a little disappointing - but the activities in Scarecrow HQ made up for this

We ate our lunch on the way - as we ate in the Heligan kitchen last year and I felt it was a little pricey

I bought my daughter an ice cream after the activities at scarecrow HQ which was fuel for the rest of the adventures as we headed to the Jungle area and across the rope suspension bridge thingy - which we didn’t find last year. Make sure you go to find this but go from the right hand side - as going across is one way

The walk then back to the exit takes you through all of the daffodils and through the wooded trails which my daughter had to re-do about 3 times!

I tried to take photos of my daughter in key places so I can then compare how my daughter is changing...the man on the bench as you enter etc

The lambing area wasn’t half as good this year - but that’s probably because Easter is earlier than last year and not many of the Lambs have been born yet

All in all a fantastic day - which I prefer to Eden if I’m honest

I would of given this 5* if we went in full bloom, can imagine it would look beautiful, and if there was a couple more sculptures around the walk.
Great for walking and great if you have dogs too.
Recommend going as soon as it opens to enjoy more of the peace and quiet.
The cafe was lovely to eat at and especially as everything is grown on the premises.
Take you camera. Some amazing pics to be taken.

Well worth it
good walk not much in the way of flowers because we were there early spring but plenty to see and a bit of history
Stuff like this inspires ideas to do more to your own garden
Also very good food there too
Good boots needed

Lovely day out with family and dog. Some steep paths and climbs. Beautiful waterfalls and scenery. The girls liked banging a penny into a felled wish tree.

As an amateur gardener I was keen to visit Heligan but came away very disappointed. It was a nice woodland walk with some interesting specimens but very little was labelled and minimal information on the plants was to be found. It felt more like a family attraction with lots for the children. Great if that is what you are looking for but there are many more fascinating gardens for the plant enthusiast, try the Garden House fairly close by.
