We just returned from a wonderful three-day stay at Sorensen's, and can understand why people make this their go-to place for all seasons. The cabins are cozy, each one unique, with thoughtful touches that are a step above the rustic experience you might expect. Beds are comfortable, food is great - we had a really delicious dinner on our first night - welcome is friendly, and even though it's right by the highway, there are corners of the property with hammocks that feel far away from it all.

It's a great jumping off place for Sierra wildflower hikes in summer, for fall color hikes, for cross-country skiing...if you hit the traffic right it's just 3 hours from the Bay Area but feels a world away.

Room Tip: Away from the road is quieter, but if you bring your dog you'll be in one of those closer to the...

The cabins are very nice and the hosts very friendly. There's even a sauna I enjoyed. No Internet at all. One reason I give it 4 points is the noise from the road. They have some cabins that are pet free, and that's a plus, especially for us, allergic folks. We were disappointed with the menu at the cafe. Everything's cooked on the spot (another plus), but the fare is very basic and unappealing.

This is one of my favorite places. No TVs, no sounds of lawn equipment or A/Cs, no internet, no cabin phones (phone in the lodge if needed), no cellular. Just peaceful beauty, fresh air and cozy cabins. Thanks to Terry, Kel, and everyone at Sorensen's for great service, for making us feel welcome, and helping us disconnect. When you call the resort, a real human still answers the phone. If you want they will pack you a picnic, or you can eat in the cafe. Books and art and other essentials are available in the shop, too. Love it.

This beautiful spot is very rustic and historical. If you want room service and a spa, this is not your place. If you want cute cabins and rooms with amenities not found at newer properties, this is it! How many places loan snow shoes? There a small touches such as cotton balls and q-tips that are appreciated. Beautiful location with a wide range of outdoor activities close by. Their cafe is great too

Room Tip: Some are close to the road but i didn't hear traffic

We stayed at Sorensen's for 2 nights to get out of the city and show our kids the snow. It was great because we didn't have to leave the resort. There is a sledding hill, snow shoes, fire pit, a wood fired sauna, and great food. We stayed in a cabin with a sleeping loft for kids and we brought our new puppy. We intend to go back with family possibly for Thanksgiving. The range of cabins is great for large families as well as small.
