Our stay at The Atlantic was unsatisfactory. Although clean, and pleasantly decorated, our classic double room in the wooden-floored Lodge building was unacceptably noisy. Having asked twice, when booking, for a quietly located room on an upper floor - and having been told that the Atlantic would "certainly do their best to accomodate our wishes" - we did not understand why we were given a ground-floor room in a high-traffic area: at the front door, off the entrance hallway opposite the shared laundry, with the communal kitchen at our back wall. A badly designed shower stall which splashed water on the floor was a further irritation. No alternative room was available on the first night of our stay. For the second night we were offered a "much smaller" room in another building. We chose to cut our losses and stay where we were. Unhelpfully, we were told that our dissatisfaction was "a pity" - and that we should be sure to book a Tropical room for our next stay, as these were quiet. The implication that guests in other room categories should expect, and be willing to tolerate, noise is ridiculous. In our view, although The Atlantic photographs well, it has design flaws that could make for an uncomfortable stay. As other reviewers have observed The Atlantic is not really a hotel, but rather shared accommodation: rooms around or above communal facilities, with noise and privacy implications that reminded us of our student days. This may suit some travellers - but we won't be back.

We thank you for your recent booking and taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Whilst we do understand our style of accommodation is unique it does not suit everyone we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience. As our rooms are located in renovated Guesthouses no two rooms are identical in size, shape, space and outlook so we have categorised them taking all of this into account. We believe that most of our guests are considerate within and around the shared space so our apologies if you did experience any excessive noise or disturbances. Thank you again and best wishes from the Atlantic Team.

We stayed for a couple of extra days in Byron at Atlantic. It is close to town with bikes and surfboards to hire.
We got a coconut room because we knew we would be out a lot.
The different rooms are situated around the garden. We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed the fire pit and the layout with guests able to access kitchens, bbqs & other areas including a lap pool to use during your stay. They have an amazing selection of DVDs to borrow.
They are very close to some grrat restaurants, cafes & shops and on checkin you will get a great Byron guide.
I would recommend booking dinner at St Elmos and enjoy happy hour drinks at The Mez Club..especially nice in winter around the indoor fire.
There is also parkinf on site.

The Atlantic is the perfect spot to stay in Byron if you're looking for something a little different to typical resort accommodation but something more than a self contained apartment. The layout, practicalities, gardens and decor are well thought out and useful, but most of all RELAXING. Within 24 hours of being here, you forget the outside world. Location is also great as it's quiet away from the main hustle and bustle, but close enough that you can walk everywhere. Highly recommend

When searching for a contemporary, and not crazy expensive place to stay in Byron Bay recently I found this little gem! It looks to be relatively new, and a welcome addition to the either overly expensive or bizarre shabby chic, tired boho, weird, dream catching accommodation on offer in the area. So, I was excited to try Atlantic and at first sight I was trilled to be greeted by her fresh, modern, beach chic interiors. This place has a tonne of positives. The price, the tropical beach house vibe, the unique layout and concept which includes various levels of accommodations and pricing, the location is excellent with two great cafes in the street, restaurant options and beach, all within walking distance and the grounds are stunning! However, yes here comes the however! The rooms are small, they are not private - Our little balcony faced a walk way so you couldn't lay in bed with the curtains open. The rooms are not sound proof, so you can hear foot traffic and people noise due to the common kitchen/living areas outside our room and the timber flooring. The bathroom looked the part, but was impractical. The shower rose is too high in the ceiling so there's no water pressure. The plastic exhaust fan was hopeless and looked to be purchased for $10 from Bunnings and of course was useless for the space, so after a shower the bathroom was full of condensation and there's no where to put your stuff! My partner hated the idea of the communal areas to make a coffee, and would have preferred a coffee maker and a fridge in our room and there's no room service. So, it's not really a hotel. Atlantic is more a cross between a B & B, a posh friends beach house and a room in a modern pub. Would I stay there again? Probably not. However, I would still give it 4 stars!

Great hotel choice for Byron Bay-very comfortable and stylish. The location offers the perfect distance to beach and town but is not in the middle of it all!
Walked to Bayleaf every morning for breakfast which was fantastic.
