We had eaten in the restaurant previously housed in this space several times, and the place was tired and dated, but the food was decent. Well......the space has been nicely updated - classy look; very nice menu; and we will definitely go back. Went for happy hour - had half price pizzas and glass of wine. Half price pizzas DEFINITELY worth the visit!! My pizza - the mushroom - was the favorite of the evening - leeks; mozzarella; black truffle; bechamel - flavors were VERY nice. Only wish it was still BYOB.

The noise lever was very high, the food was only fair and the price expensive. One of those places been there, done that..

We tried this new restaurant this past Friday evening. There were four in our party. The place had a nice vibe and yes was a bit noisy but not if you are used to city dining in converted row house style restaurants.

We were greeted and seated without issue. Our server was a little busy toward apps. We ordered two entrees and two fire grilled pizzas.

The child's portion of gnocchi's was not acceptable for the $15 entrée price. No where does the menu suggest the entrees offered are "small plates" and certainly the restaurant is not "fine dining" where a smaller portion might be expected. To matter the situation even funnier (?) the entrée was served in a 7" dish. Eight bites later I was finished.

We will not return even if the atmosphere and service was appropriate. Management needs to either increase the portions sizes or mandate that their servers warn customers that their portions should appear on the "Children's Menu".

Had a delicious lunch out on the patio in July. Fancy soups and sandwiches. Our server was very engaging. The patio has both sun and shade. The day we were there, there was a wonderful breeze, so it was just lovely. Carefully placed plantings hide the parking lot.
Returned in September for dinner with friends. Dinner menu had some nice surprises on it: interesting taste combinations. Nice wine list. Service was prompt and friendly.
I look forward to returning. (I do agree with other reviewers that it is noisy inside.)

Hearth opened with great expectations. I hope they can do better than our recent experience as they increasingly get their legs under them. The service was attentive and well-connected with both the kitchen and the diners. The kitchen is a little slow, so take that into account when you schedule your evening. The dining cozy is cozy and well-appointed, but something about the design makes the room way too noisy. That adds unnecessary stress to the experience.

The bread came first, and it was exceptionally good- maybe the best I've had in the US. The salads were a decent size and nicely done. Unfortunately, the pizzas just didn't cut it. We had 2 different pizza items, and they both suffered from trying too hard and getting poor results. Neither had much flavor, despite a collection of potentially interesting toppings, sauces, and cheeses. I suspect the leftovers, once seasoned a bit, will taste better than the originals from the kitchen. The crusts were not to my liking- too doughy, lots of corn meal, and a whole lot of burned area on the bottom. I get the fact that this is a wood fired hearth- it is still possible to make a good pizza without burning the crust.

I believe there is enough talent in the kitchen to overcome these deficiencies, but for the price of the meal, they will have to resolve them before we return.
