Country Log House Farm Bed and Breakfast

I want to echo all the other favorable reviews here. The setting was peaceful, the room comfortable, the rates reasonable. Mim (and a neighbor who helped her) prepared phenomenal breakfasts, and Jim was so welcoming and was always available for a chat. We enjoyed walking through the corn field, sitting on the porch, petting the animals, eating at local restaurants. Every part of the vacation was enjoyable and relaxing.
You can't wear shoes in the house, which is understandable - you are staying at a farm - but if you have foot problems that require wearing footwear at all times, consider packing a very clean pair of shoes just to wear indoors. Walking barefoot on the hardwood floors of the family room and staircase could be difficult for some people.

Room Tip: One piece of advice about your room selection - we stayed in the Loft Room, which is right above the...

We lucked out & got in last minute due to a cancelation. Mr Jim & his wife went out of their way to make us feel welcome & give our kids a taste of farm life! We fed the sheep & goats, gathered eggs from the chicken coup, played with the outdoor cats & kittens & went on a hay ride to a neighboring dairy farm. (All the animals were healthy and well cared for, barns were very clean.) We were one of 4 families staying and all the kids enjoyed the animals, paths through the corn fields, swing sets, etc. Mrs. Mim made a huge breakfast for us all (17 guests) and it was delicious! Fresh scrambled eggs, baked French toast, ham, banana bread, fresh fruit, and casseroles. And this was on Sunday- when many B&Bs in the area don't provide a hot breakfast. The house is a very spacious old farmhouse with a unique floor plan. The bedroom was charming. We stayed in the Garden Room. The room was clean and linens smelled freshly laundered. The decor is as one would expect in a farm house, country & rustic. Each room had AC & private bathroom. We had a charming old curved staircase in our room that led up to our private bathroom (which was basic but very clean). The kids loved this feature and it really made the room unique. In summary, we enjoyed our visit a lot and hope to come back next year. Beautiful setting, lovely home & couple. Delicious food and lots of animal interaction for the kids. This was a great find!

This is a must stay in Pennsylvania. You will not find kinder hosts. Jim and Mim are wonderful people that truly love what they do. Mim cooks up just about the most amazing spread if food that I gave ever had at a B&B. She even makes her own jelly. The fresh eggs from their chickens are too good to be true. We really only needs to eat mins breakfast and dinner when we were travel king. That is how much she will feed you. Jim will take you on an awesome hay ride through a corn field to a dairy/poultry farm. You will learn a lot! After that you get to feed the sheep and goats at the bed and breakfast. Then (my favorite) you will collect the eggs using small baskets. I woke up early to take walks around the farm and neighborhood. So peaceful and soothing. I can't wait to go back.

We stayed here three nights while traveling between DC and New York. We used it as a home base to explore Amish country and Gettysburg. But, my kids (12, 10 and 8) really didn't ever want to leave the farm. They had fun helping out, going on hay rides and playing with the menagerie of kittens, sheep, goats lambs and chickens. There is a swing and a trampoline and a huge lawn for chasing fire flies at night. We would come back in a heart beat. The rooms are comfortable, a bit small with luggage, but overall very comfortable. Breakfast is amazing - the best of Dutch country cooking, and Jim and Mim are welcoming hosts.

My daughter and I have stayed here for a few days each of the last six summers (while she was ages 4-9); we absolutely love it. Jim and Mim are welcoming and wonderful hosts and feed guests a delicious breakfast. The farm has chickens, sheep, goats and always a new litter of kittens, which has made it quite heavenly for my daughter. Mount Joy is a lovely town, and Dutch Wonderland (great for younger kids) and Hershey Park (great for older kids) are not very far away.
