If you have not heard about Duck Soup Cafe from someone you may not even know about it, but you would be missing out on a treat! It is tucked away in the Logan Square shopping center just outside of New Hope, PA off route 202. It is located around the back and is a small, cozy cafe with about 9 tables inside and outdoor seating under umbrellas on their deck. There is a menu and also specials on the blackboard. There are several vegetarian options, and also meat and fish dishes, with the emphasis on fresh! (There was a large bowl of ripe tomatoes on the window sill the day we came and we were told local, fresh produce arrives and the chef uses those ingredients in her cooking.) I inquired as to why the menu is not posted on a web site and I was told that the chef wants to be able to take advantage of what is fresh each day and not disappoint diners if something on a posted web site is not available. I think that also makes the cafe more intimate, as it is mainly known by the locals! The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch daily and dinner on Fridays, only. When we went we ordered lunch, but I noticed breakfast is also offered all day. The service was excellent. Because the food is prepared to order, you must allow time for cooking, but our meals were out in a reasonable amount of time. I had the vegetable panini in which I requested eggplant be added. The chef did this for me and it arrived grilled and tasty. My husband ordered the turkey club on a croissant. The turkey was "real" and not lunch meat. We had coffee, which was delicious, and decided to try a home-made dessert. We split a slice of the key lime pie which was well worth the splurge, in my opinion! I forget what our bill was, but I remember thinking it was worth it to enjoy some time relaxing over home-cooked food in a cozy atmosphere. We plan to return for dinner one Friday with a bottle of wine, as it is a BYOB restaurant.
