Owner description: Located at the southern reaches of the Laurel Ridge, Ohiopyle State Park encompasses approximately 20,500 acres of rugged natural beauty and serves as the gateway to the Laurel Highlands. Close to major metropolitan areas and offering vast choices of activities. Passing through the heart of the park, the rushing waters of the Youghiogheny River Gorge are the centerpiece for Ohiopyle. The "Yough" provides some of the best whitewater boating in the eastern United States, as well as spectacular scenery. Other activites are biking the Great Allegheny Passage, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, picnicking, horsebacking riding, rock climbing, and hiking.

Seeking a moderate hike on a Saturday afternoon. The visitor's center and river was impressive. Lots of different hikes available but in late March/early April some parking areas/trailheads were closed. Found a few good loops (away from the crowds), very enjoyable. Looking forward to returning.

For us, It was a surprise to find this state park on our way to the Fallingwater house.
Impressive and amazing
( be advised: the falling water hose has a very expensive entrance fee $10/person only grounds)

This is a nice park with plenty to do . We enjoyed taking the bike ride down the trials. There are also a lot of cafe's with a good food, plus a wonderful place to white water raft.

Driving from Johnstown south to visit a show cave my friend and I stopped at Ohiopyle State Park to enjoy some nature. It is a lovely park with some falls and kayaking, lots of trails, and a few shops to get some food, and gear rentals from. There is also a small information area to learn a bit about the area.

They offer camping, white water rafting, horse trails, rock climbing and more. When we visited it was a bit cold and no one was out on the water but we did take a look at it and it really is a pretty bit of water called the Youghiogheny River.

Fishing and hunting takes place in the park too, but we didn't see anyone partaking in those activities either. The whole park is 20,500 acres and it is open daily from sun up to sun down. Nature is amazing and Ohiopyle showcases it.

My husband and I LOVE camping at Ohiopyle. Every year we find something new to explore. From hiking, to camping, swimming, relaxing, finding the waterfalls… etc. We really love the park.

one of the downfalls is limited parking during busy seasons and holidays. If you plan to park at an attraction, show up early in the day.
