Owner description: Randyland is the home of artist, Randy Gilson. Located in the Mexican War Streets district of Pittsburgh's Northside, the Randyland courtyard is open most everyday between 10:00pm and 7:00pm. Visitors are welcome to come and explore the public art displays in and around the property. Using paints, plants, plastic animals, yard sale finds and discarded construction materials, creator Randy Gilson has transformed his home and surrounding buildings into a colorful Pittsburgh landmark. This vibrant set of buildings is a centerpiece that continues to attract both tourists and locals.

This is a colorful yard filled with painted and reclaimed items. It's worth stopping by if you are visiting the Mattress Factory, but I found the presence of so many life size cut outs of "Randy" bizarre. Who is going to want a mug or t-shirt with this guy's face on it? He's already named the garden after himself. Take one of the print outs of his bio touting his good works.

I would have enjoyed it more without so much promotional of Randy, though perhaps he is a fascinating character. He wasn't there in person when we visited so I can't say.

Plan on staying 15 mins or less.

Was a nice visit despite the rain - open, outdoor garden space. Neat place - was pretty reasonable to walk to from downtown or the Andy Warhol museum.

Randy has certainly put his heart and soul in to this and he loves to tell you ALL about it, but beware. Randy can talk non stop and will give you way more info about himself than you could possible care to know. But, being an iconic new landmark and admiring his ingenuity, I was happy to leave a nice donation. Just don't get cornered by him, took me over an hour to extricate my friends.

Great little artist pocket in the city. So many cool things to look at. Randy took his time painting lovely things. The murals are a sight to see; such intricately detailed work. Make sure you leave a donation in the box before leaving. There's also a "worry box" there you can write a note and slip it in the box. I did it for fun. I totally suggest seeing this artist's raw talent on display. If you appreciate out of the box art as I do, this place is for you.
