Forbthe price even on a Groupon deal this hotel is very outdated except the lobby area, breakfast buffet for 15.50 and no many choices not worth 14.50 nor the Groupon deal we got. Very dirty rooms, the beds are uncomfortable, not well maintained. Would not rent again from here. View was nice but can use room updates. No refrigerators in room the tub was filthy, spiders and dirty walls, spring mattress was horrible. I gave it a 2 for convenience to camelback that's all.

Upon arrival to the hotel the lost was fairly empty...figured it may be just because of the activities that may still be in progress during the day..nope most people must have ran from this place. The lobby looks nice and fairly recently done. The staff seems a little flustered or unhappy to be there in general. After checking in and fixing the errors on breakfast vouchers and receiving dirty previously used keys. (stains on the keys) One elevator is out of service and the one that works is dirty. Once it lets you off on your floor you will notice there are some blueish lights on the walls that leave the halls not well lit. In the room we booked two beds and nothing special....the one bed had a huge stain on it. (guess no one inspects this) the bathroom was dirty at best. Mold and Shower mat was discolored and made you feel even more dirty after a shower (if we were able to take one) We decided to leave and ski the day how long do you stay in the room right? Well after skiing and returning the hotel had a pipe break and had rusty water everywhere. The first offer was bottles of water...am I supposed to shower in it?? Next we were told the water has high iron content..really? We decided to leave and demanded return of our money which is still pending and I will update when it is resolved further

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

My wife book this hotel through Groupon for a birthday getaway. We read the review and they were not good. When we first arrived we saw a sign at the counter explaining about a pipe burst that was fixed and complimentary water would be provided. The problem was that they had no complimentary water to give us. The water still was brown so we used bottle water we had in our car until the following day. The room was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable. They have a $14 breakfast that was ok but for that amount someone should have been making omelettes. The only updates seem to be the lobby area. The man who runs the desk was did not seem to be personable, was not welcoming, and seem that he did not like answering questions. The bar was nice and played good music. The bartender was helpful and nice. She did very well in helping me celebrate my Birthday

We have been going to the Chateau once or twice a year for several years to be close to skiing at Camelback Mountain.

Overall, this is a lower-priced hotel option that is basically at the foot of Camelback Mountain. It is only a seven minute walk to the lodge from the hotel. We always reserve a room with a view of the mountain. The view is spectacular. However, the view and the distance to the mountain are the only pluses going for it.

In general, the recent comments are true.
• yes, the hotel is transitioning under new ownership; granted it is to something that is not defined
• yes, the staff is friendly and there are not enough of them
• yes, the restaurant is not a first choice. In fact, over the years we have learned to bring with us breakfast bars, eat lunch at the mountain, and travel for dinner
• yes, the rooms, lobby, gym area (including the pool, hot tub, and sauna), and grounds are barely maintained
• yes, we were at the hotel on December 31st when the water stopped. We decided not to deal with it and went home a day early.

With all of the above, if your goal is to roll out of bed and be skiing in less than 20 minutes, then this is the only game in town.

Room Tip: Always ask for a mountain view room.

This place needs a lot of work, definitely close to Camelback but that's all the place has to offer. Bed is not comfortable, cable stopped working, breakfast is not worth going to at the hotel. If you want a cheap place to stay near the mountain than this is good for that other then that stay some place else.
