“Great campground”

Hickory Run State Park
Ranked #2 of 11 things to do in White Haven

I have stayed at Hickory Run a few times. Very nice campground with good sized campsites and plenty of room between sights. Some good hiking close by, lake to swim in, and decent bathroom facilities. Will be going again next year.

We have been to Hickory Run state park too many times to count. They have a nice little beach area for swimming and a hidden lake for fishing. Boulder field is a must see. Nice park for a picnic or to camp. There are lots of trails to hike.

This is a nice place to go hiking and enjoy the scenery. Swimming in the lake is a cool way to refresh after a hike

All PA state parks are free so there's really no excuse to miss an opportunity to recharge the soul & take in a breath of fresh air. HRSP is an expansive park teaming with as much activity as you want to participate in. The day of our trek we decided to hike the 'Shades Of Death' trail which ended up being a great choice to see waterfalls, rock formations, & tons of rhododendron trees in bloom. We started by picking up a map at the small park office building & hopped on the trail right there. It ended at a playground for campers & a nice fishing spot. This is also where we saw a milksnake sunning itself on the stone bridge.
After the hike we drove to the concession stands at the lake for a bite to eat before heading off to the crown jewel of the park, Boulder Field. Mother Nature sure left her mark here at the western foothills of these robust mountains. This is one place not to be missed when in the Pocono region. It's truly a once in a lifetime thing that needs to be experienced in person & so deserving of it National Natural Landmark status. If you are the adventuresome type then gingerly walk out on the rocks, but be aware there are snakes trying to soak up the sun.

I didn't even know this place existed . Once you get to the park you have to follow the trail for like 10 or 15 minutes until you find this beautiful river.....something amazing.
