Had lunch there recently, the food was okay.we had the egg drop soup which was very good and the spare ribs on the bone were very good. But the chow me in wasn't to good along with the fried rice. The Lucky Buddha beer was good but a little expensive $5.00 a bottle. The place is back in the 60s or 70s but very clean. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE TWO TOILETS SIDE BY SIDE IN THE JOHN.

We took out food from Ching Tao restaurant few days ago and we were disappointed in every dish. Spring rolls were tasteless and extremely chewy, fried rice was under cooked yet too oily

We had dinner at this place. The food on average was good. The egg drop soup and wonton soup was excellent. The crab Rangoon's were also very good. The chicken and vegetables were very good. We've had better yang chow fried rice. Chicken fingers were only fair. Service was good. Ambience was just OK. Prices were reasonable.

My wife and I were staying just a short night in Newport/Middletown RI and she says she's in the mood for Chinese. Right across the street from our hotel was Ching Tao.
When we walked in, my wife fell in love with the place. Whether they did it on purpose or not doesn't matter... The place was like walking into a 1960-70's restaurant. Pink wall paper, bright decorations, lit up scenes from China that took up nearly entire walls.. but the coup de gras was the menu & cocktail listings... again straight of 1960's. She reveled in the old names and the mixtures.. and what then grabbed her attention was the pricing! hardly a drink on the menu for more than $6!! She checked the menu and ordered a Suffering Ba$t@rd (originally a Suffering Barsteward, Cairo).
Despite being short staffed that night, the service was cheerful and on the spot, never missing a beat. The food was fairly priced and the serving sizes meant that we had lunch the next day. Great all around.
