Owner description: The Foundation welcomes visitors to explore daily life in one of Charleston's most exquisite dwellings. Located in Downtown Charleston near High Battery, the Nathaniel Russell House Museum, 51 Meeting Street, is widely recognized as one of America's most important neoclassical dwellings. Historic Charleston Foundation purchased the National Historic Landmark in 1955, and the house served as the Foundation's headquarters for 37 years. Today, the interiors are restored to their original 1808 grandeur and surrounded by formal gardens.

This is the only house we toured and it was a "show stopper". Absolutely amazing..our guide was fantastic and our guided tour makes us want to return to Charleston to visit other homes.

Lots of history in this beautiful house. We thought the price was reasonable for a guided tour through this historic and lovely house. Don't miss the landscaping and gardens before or after your visit. Try the joggling board outside too, you will be surprised!

We had time to visit only one house and selected this one. It was a disappointing tour because I did not really get to enjoy the staircase. Our guide rushed us and spent more time pointing out the gold leaf than the architectural features themselves. If you are going to several houses, it's worth putting on your list.

Much smaller property then the Aiken-Rhett house. The guided tour takes through three or four rooms. All in all I think it’s a good appetizer tour for the Aiken-Rhett house. It’s also in a great area for architecture so if you walk there there’s many great homes to see along the way. Recommended.

Only way to see the inside of the house is on a 45 min tour. Our guide was excellent & the house is beautiful.
