Owner description: Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for more than 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would know. Group walking tours are 2 hours long, and begin at 108 Meeting Street.

Michael packed a lot into this downtown/lower historic district walk. He was engaging and even learned the first names of everyone in the group. 7th(?) generation Savannah-ite.

Michael packed a lot into a fascinating 2 hour walk. Great as an introduction to the area as I had a limited time in Charleston. He was engaging and even learned the first names of everyone in the group. He's lived in the community a long time and gave us insights beyond what a tour book could do.

Really enjoyed Michael’s tour! He knows his facts, tells super interesting little tales about Charleston, and packs much more than expected in the 2 hour + tour. He talks fast and it’s easy to hear him! He waits for his guests before he describes an area, deliberately remembers the names of people on his tour, and is very engaging. It was an awesome way to kick off a Charleston trip! Thank you, Michael!

Michael's tour was alive with personal and historical anecdotes and arcane facts about life in Charleston that would not be found in the standard guides that include walking tours. Michael is the consummate performer making the tour as fun as it was informative.

My wife and I took this walking tour on a beautiful morning in mid February. Michael was easy to schedule with and the starting and finishing point was right across the street from our hotel, the Mills House. He was extremely informative, very personable (remembered everyone's names) and humorous at times. Other reviews had mentioned that it was fast paced but we thought that his pace was perfect for everyone in our group. Plenty of stops to discuss history, local lore and share some of his personal stories as he has lived in Charleston most of his life. Highly recommend talking Michael's tour!!! Top notch!
