I absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. It's not too big, not too small. A great place to hang out, and the staff is ridiculously friendly. You immediately feel welcome and relaxed. As a bonus, the fish and chips were some of the absolute best I've ever had.

Waterfront Park is just down the street as well, which makes for a great place for an evening walk.

Had a couple of beers here before dinner elsewhere. It is not a typical British pub but it has its charm. Very friendly staff who helped us find somewhere for breakfast the next day to watch soccer. Good selection of beers

Went to Griffons for Fish and Chips. Rated #2 but should be #1. Fish was fresh, tender and melted in your mouth. Portions were large. French fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Best fish and chips I have ever had. Reasonably priced, too, considering it is Charleston. Took a stroll to the pineapple fountain and harbor afterwards. Well worth the visit. Run, don't walk, to this great restaurant!

There is no sign to seat yourself and the bartenders didn't say anything to us. The woman bartender was kinda rude but the man with salt pepper hair was nice. Order was fast and fish and chips were good. Soggy fries.
Took forever to get the check and the bartender are the servers and they are just chatting with the folks up there.
Over all wouldn't come here again. Also bathrooms aren't family friendly. No where to change baby.

Stopped in twice last week and loved the buffalo shrimp. Beer is cold and they have a great variety. Small place so it can get crowded. We remember coming to this location 30 years ago when it was the Moultrie Tavern and had all of those Civil War artifacts and period food. We really miss that but this has a great tavern feel.....unlike McCrady's. The bar tenders were friendly and gave us some good information on Charleston. Thanks, Guys! We will return next year.
