Wife and I were in town for the eclipse and stayed at the King Charles Hotel on Meeting Street. After a long day we didn't want to walk all over the downtown Historic area looking for a meal--asked the hotel front desk and they said Jestines was about a block away. Glad we checked as we had the best fried chicken dinners ever! It was packed, and they actually have a long bench on the side of the building for folks waiting for a table. The wait was about 15 minutes and was so well worth it! This is down home soul food at its best and I would attempt to eat there every day if we lived in Charleston!
