We were referred to Magnolias by a bartender at The Brick bar - she said it is a must. So we made a reservation (and you will need one!). By far it is the best restaurant in Charleston! We arrived a little earlier than our reservation so we had a drink at the very comfortable bar. Allison, the bartender, was the best. One of their speciality drinks is an orange spiced martini, which she made to perfection....they were so perfect I had two more after dinner. The ambiance of the restaurant is all about southern hospitality with white tablecloths and napkins and a kind of plantation dining room feel. Our waiter Gabe could not have been more accommodating. He told us that the sausage and grit appetizer was absolutely wonderful, and he was right! We could have had that as our main meal, but one app was more than enough to share. I had the sheeps head market catch over grits with a summer vegetable succatash. Again, the sheeps head was pan fried to perfection in a parmesan crust. My husband had the seafood bouillabaise, which he loved. After dinner we went to the bar for a drink and a piece of the absolute-without-a-doubt-best-piece of southern pecan pie we have ever tasted in our entire lives.....and we are in our 60s!! Definitely make Magnolias a must whenever you visit Charleston.

Enjoyed a great meal at the restaurant with excellent service. We paid the $5 split meal charge but were pleased with the parm crusted fish of the day. This place is worth a visit if you need a good quality restaurant to visit in Charleston.

Let me say I would give our service a 6 if that were possible. Cory our waiter was fantastic! From the moment we sat down we knew we were in for a treat. They have the best shrimp/scallops and grits which is what I had and hubby had that days special ahi tuna with a crab slaw and rice. The tuna was perfectly cooked to "rare" as it should be with a very nice but not overbearing amount of spice. The crab slaw (which Cory described was more like chicken salad from a consistency) was divine and the rice was I believe southern rice. Not sure what all was in it but there was andouille and it complimented the tuna and crab very well. My husband now craves the dish. So looks like it we will be visiting Charleston again!

Didn't have a reservation on a Friday night but we were happy to have a drink in the Griffon before a table was free. Very good service and food. Good selection of beer and wine. Would go back when next in the city

Our friends and I visited Charleston and this restaurant was recommended by a lady in our incoming flight. What a gift that was!!

Starting off with an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes, the dining experience was amazing. Most of our group had the chicken breast and I had the halibut special.

You can't go wrong with a visit to this restaurant....a "must visit" when in Charleston!!
