The service was great from Tatiana. We almost did not go in as it seemed the parking lot was full and we were afraid of the wait. But we walked right in. The food was good, we enjoyed the wings, soup and a Po boy. The one negative was the restroom needed some attention.

Thank Daryl H

Nice atmosphere, dirty shrimp and grits and the soft shell crab were great.
Mussels were good.
Service started off good then slacked off towards the end if the meal.
Good views.

From the several seafood restaurants in the neighborhood of Shem Creek, we chose the Bar and Grill. It was a friendly place much like a neighborhood bar. Staff were pleasant, the atmosphere was casual and good. Two of us had dinner. The boiled shrimp dinner was as expected with a generous number of shrimp. The seafood platter was, however, a big disappointment. A cloying, creamy spicy sauce had been dredged over most everything bringing all flavors to a common and not altogether pleasant taste. A shrimp could be discerned from a scallop only by texture. The crab cake was strongly flavored so that its favor rose, unpleasantly, above the sauce. The slab of mahi avoided the sauce mostly and was quite good; the french fries (other than those buried in sauce) were terrific. Next time in the neighborhood, we'll try one of the other places nearby.

First the Good news! The service was outstanding. Jessica did a great job. The local Palmetto Porter was fantastic. The homemade coconut pie was very, very good.

Appetizers - Fried dill pickles ok, but lacked basic seasoning. Crab Dip was cold and marginal at best. Halfway through the dip we hit an unknown object that looked like seaweed. It was supposed to be a lettuce leaf but was more of a slimy mess. Needless to say the rest of the dip was uneaten.

Entrees - Fried shrimp and fried oysters were well done. Small portions for $20 and $21 per entree. No hushpuppies, no bread. Only choice to go with them was either Shem Potatoes or Red Rice. We tried both. Shem potatoes were cold mashed potatoes and Red Rice was dry and tasteless.

Recommendation to Shem. Check out the Noisy Oyster in North Charleston, SC for menu choices, and pricing. They scored a 10 in our book, you , not so much.
