We've eaten at this place formally known as Kono's for years and always left extremely satisfied, but not tonight. We arrived at the now OKino's at 4:30 and was the only patrons there. They advertise to open at 3:00 and we expected to have Hibachi serve when we got there, boy were we fooled. The bar tender asked if we were 2 for the diner and we said hibachi and he said he'd have to check to see if they were serving it yet. He came back and said they wouldn't be ready till about 5:00. He told us we could order the same items from the diner as the hibachi and it would be a bit cheaper. So we agreed. We sit in the bar area and he took our drink order and tried to convenience us that we didn't want the sweet tea for it was too sweet. We needed to order it half and half. We are 2 southern girls that like out "sweet" tea. So we declined it to be weakened and he left. We knew what we wanted to order so we had no need for a menu. We placed our order when he returned. We also ordered California rolls. We actually watched the rolls being made and then waited another 15 minutes for them to be brought to out table at which time he told us we had received a double order. It appeared to be the usual 6-8 pieces. Once we finished these we waited another 30 minutes before our food arrived. Not what we expected. This truly was NOT the same teriyaki chicken that we order from the hibachi and we certainly don't get steamed veggies with it. Oh forgot to meant ion that we were asked if we wanted "rice or fires" with our meal
.?????? Ah rice.........that should have been our first warning sign. With NO soup or salad and the meal arriving on a sizzling plate-fajita style we knew this wasn't going to end good. Had to hunt our waiter down to get a tea refill and had to listen to he and the other bartender talk about how the other employees are not pulling their wait and the language that was used was not repeatable. By this time other patrons were arriving and no one was ready to being serving them. They asked if they were early-it's 5:30- and one of the employees that's in the bar conversation says "oh no, we open at 3:00". I wanted to tell them to leave. We finally ask for our check and I about fell out of my seat. This "will be cheaper" experience turned out to be the most expensive I've ever eaten there. So much for the Early Bird Special. The early bird gets SCREWED. WILL NOT RECOMMEND OR EVER PATRON THERE AGAIN.
