Stayed with friends the weekend of June 26th. Our condo, unit 1802, was absolutely gorgeous---even better than the pictures. Embarrassed to find out from another guest that unit 1803 was not as good, and they were asked to move from 1802 upon our arrival. The owner had warned us new management left things a bit disorganized.

Hits: walk across to the beach; beautiful views; spacious rooms; spic-and-span housekeeping (though overworked!); washer and dryer in room; umbrellas, chairs, and boogie boards in closets; restaurant quick, cheap, and friendly;

Misses: condo decor and cleanliness varied; elevator on Sunday check out took 45 minutes (no exaggeration); one very unfriendly front desk attendant who said "it is not my problem" your room keys do not work; pool towel pick up and drop off vague; unreliable wi-fi

Overall, half of us were extremely happy, and half of us were disappointed.

Room Tip: Unit 1802 is the best condo on the property! (so long as the elevators are working)

Dear Kristine S,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us, and letting us know how your visit had gone. I am happy to see that you did have a great time overall and I want to assure you that the issues you faced are certainly not typical of a stay with us. With each of the condos being individual owned, we work hard to relay the feedback our guests give us to the owners to encourage them to make the necessary changes. I hope that you give us another chance to wow you from start to finish.

Best Wishes,

Carey Batchelor

My Mom and I vacationed here the weekend of June 26th (2015). The woman who checked us treated us as if we had run over her cat. We were nice to her anyway, figuring that maybe she was having a bad day. As soon as we checked into the room we noticed the sliding balcony door was broken (it wouldn't lock). Feeling uneasy (a safety issue), we called the front desk for help. Instead of being helpful, the man laughed at us saying that it wasn't a problem since we were not on the ground floor. My Mom and I feeling unsafe still requested help. Though we waited patiently for the promised maintenance man, no help came. Thirty minutes later we called again asking to be moved to another room due to the safety issue. This time the woman answered the phone. She cut me off, saying we could not be moved to another room until tomorrow morning because the manager had already left. She said the maintenance man had just pulled up, then hung the receiver up in my ear. This was rude not to mention very unprofessional. Another 15 minutes and the maintenance man arrives, cuts a beam of wood and props it behind the sliding door saying it would keep anyone from getting in. Later on we got stuck in the elevator. Then neither of the two room keys would open the door. Afterwards we learned that one of the toilets was broken (we had to jiggle the lever for a while to encourage it to flush). We soon learned that we were not the only ones having trouble. A lady we met while on the elevator, told us how her neighbors were being loud, waking up their infant. The front desk refused to move them to another room because the manager had left for the day. We ran into two other people who were having problems too. When we left the property the manager was on duty. But he too was very cold - not friendly at all. Needless to say, this was our last stay at this property. It was disappointing, and an experience that I would not wish on my worst enemy.

Room Tip: Stay away from this property!

We love staying at Forest Dunes! We are regulars and always enjoy our stay. We enjoyed the DJ out at the pool. The only complaint we had during this stay was the manager at the front desk could have cared less about the lack of clean towels that were available for the guest. Also, Our room was very clean when we arrived however getting housekeeping back in there was a challenge.

We had the one bedroom deluxe ocean front view. Room was clean. Views were indeed breathtaking with the glass surrounding two sides of the living room and we enjoyed sitting on the two balconies. Loved waking up to the view of the ocean each morning. The best part was having a kitchen to be able to cook our own meals and not have to go out. So relaxing! The beach was just a few short steps across the street. Only downfalls were the late check-in, elevator many times was overcrowded or unavailable, and entry way into the room was not always clean.

Room Tip: Choose the corner suites for the best views and higher floors have the better views and less noise from street, and pool areas.

Forest Dunes is a little gem tucked away in a more quiet section of Myrtle Beach. What makes it stand out to me is the view! If you can, opt for a corner unit. We were in a 3 bedroom on the 17th floor. The ocean front side has a balcony to die for. It runs the whole length of the front of the building with access from each bedroom. There is an additional balcony on the side with a view overlooking the pool and lazy river and additionally you can see all the way down the beach to the Ferris wheel. We could view the fireworks presentation right from the condo one evening. We also had a lightning storm one night, and while that might not appeal to everyone, watching it from the floor to ceiling windows was pretty cool!

The unit was clean and fully stocked with everything you would need for a getaway. Including a washer dryer in the unit, flat screen tvs in all the bedrooms and the living room and a full kitchen.

The beach was an easy walk. There is a marked fitness trail right out front too. The lobby was clean and bright.

We were very pleased to have found Forest Dunes!
