First the amazing - you are right on a beautiful warm water beach with great views. As a lifelong devotee of beaches - Atlantic, Gulf, California Pacific, and Hawaiian - I was pleased and impressed with the one here. Also, there are many pools both indoor and outdoor including a pair of lazy rivers. And while there were many people at the resort the pools never felt 'overcrowded'.

The room itself - a 1BR oceanfront w/murphy bed - was spacious if a bit dated. Actually the bathroom and kitchen were in good shape but not the furnishings. I was really glad the living room had a murphy bed as the sofa bed was old and tired. But the full kitchen and laundry in the room were much appreciated.

Some of the quirkyness stems from how the building is situated on the site. There is no underground area and the parking garage is across the street. So the ground floor is a loading/unloading 'garage' and the lobby is one floor up. And some of it stems from it's 'not quite a condo, not quite a hotel, not quite a resort' nature. There is a restaurant and bar onsite but not a sundry store. The restaurant was just OK - at least it wasn't overpriced - and was never crowded.

All that said...I would absolutely stay here again. I would just stop by a supermarket on the way.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your stay. I know the Condo-Tel concept if you are not familiar takes a stay to get the hang of it but twice the room with "home-style" amenities at the same Hotel price is not a bad concept!

See you next time.

Not my first visit as we enjoy the rooms and access to the beach. The views are gorgeous! Eazy walk to the "town" restaurants. Very child friendly but there is a bar for adults pool side. Extremely helpful and professional staff are always smiling. Toilet paper should be up graded, but very nice experience otherwise especially since they have 3 hot tubs!

We just stayed 6 nights at this hotel for the first time ever at Myrtle beach. From our experience we would pass on staying at this hotel a second time. I've stayed at nicer hotels for less. There are a few updates that could be done to make this hotel a better stay. CONS that we experienced were :
TV's were small and no HD. There were no USB ports in our room to plug in our devices.
Decor was a bit dated I'm talking about the furniture and fixtures in our room.
there was brown dirt/ dust spots on the white ceilings along the walls edge.
A shelf on our bathroom cabinet was broken in our room along with the spa tub didn't work either. The cover for the bathroom fan was broke and hanging down. The light above our kitchen table was burned out I brought it to the attention of the staff who asked how about say was going "twice" but nobody came to change it. A smoke or heat detector in our Kitchenette was hanging loose off it's mounting bass from the ceiling a bit. Looks like they did some work or replacement of the unit and couldn't get all the wires shoved back in far enough to remount it correctly.
Housekeeping services could of been better. We did get clean towels and supplies daily but they only ran the vacuum in our room once in six day stay. Bed Pillows were not good woke up with a stiff neck every morning. Also the bathroom towels were like drying off with sandpaper.

PROS: the ocean view was great from our balcony the pool areas were clean, small but adequate. The Avista staff we interacted with were nice folks. The Parking garage is nice to keep your ride out of the blazing sun but be warned it's a tight fit if your driving a SUV or truck. You will find yourself backing up at corners or pulling ahead and then backing up to let another car pass before you can make the turn to the floor above. SLOW DOWN and use the hanging mirrors provided and you will be fine I did it with a 4 door full-size pickup.
TIP back into the parking stalls it's easier to pull out then back out.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Avista Resort at Myrtle Beach, South Caroline. They made sure the rooms were clean every day and if we needed anything they made it happen! We can't wait until next year's family vacation!

My husband and I were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay on the beach for about 5 days for a quick vacation getaway from the Midwest (at the end of May to beginning of June). Overall, we had a good experience at Avista. Our room was very well-maintained and was very clean. The view from the balcony was great. The staff was friendly. We never went to the pool, but they seemed pretty small for how big the hotel is. However, coming to the beach is really more about the beach than the pool! We only have two complaints from our trip:

1. We arrived at Avista on the last day of Bike Week. When we arrived there were motorcycles everywhere and some pretty rough looking characters. There were rowdy kids all over the pool and parts of the hotel seemed pretty trashed from the bikers. My husband gave me a look when we arrived since I had booked the hotel, and he was wondering what I had got us into. Thankfully it was the last day of Bike Week, but I wish there had been signs up that clearly stated what was going on. We finally asked hotel staff and found out why things seemed so crazy. I can't imagine if we been at Avista during the entirety of Bike Week.

2. There was a woman in the hotel lobby named Charlotte Brown who called us over about a day into our visit to ask if we had gotten our welcome gifts. She told us she worked with the hotel concierge and wanted to know if we had planned any excursions for our vacation because she could try to get us a deal. We said we were possibly thinking about jet skiing, and she started going to work on her computer to put together a discounted package for us. At first, we thought this was a nice service that the hotel offered as she implied that she worked with the hotel to get customers deals. However, it quickly became apparent that she wanted us to attend a timeshare presentation for Wyndham. Ultimately, we decided to do it since we had never been to one before and my husband had gotten pretty sunburnt the day before so some time out of the sun sounded good and the $150 we were going to get was enticing. We went, and it was pretty much what we expected. Of course, we said no and especially had no problem doing so when we saw the ridiculous interest rates they wanted to charge for financing. It was very sad to see a lot of other people sucked into their high-pressured tactics though, and we were very surprised Avista would allow one of their slimy representatives to sit in the lobby and manipulate people into attending the presentation.

Aside from these two issues, we overall had a good experience and would recommend Avista to anyone looking for a well-maintained and clean budget-friendly getaway.
