We stopped in on a busy Sunday afternoon so the wait staff took care of us but we didn't get a lot of extra attention. The BBQ chicken and ribs were both good but it was the desserts--sweet potato pie and peach cobbler--that seemed the most authentic culinary experiences.

Terrific lunch on St Helena island. Bill is not only a great chef, he's a steward of the Gullah culture. Loved meeting him and eating the real thing. Worth going out of your way!

Don't waste your time or money. Run down, dirty place. Not sure where all the reviewers ate and found this great. Terrible service. Low county fish soups basic tomato soup sprinkled with small pcs of shredded catfish. I had shark bites and potato salad. 7 no flavor nuggets and a ice cream scoop of bland boring potato salad. Not what I expected from a Gullah restaurant. Boring boring. High prices for terrible food.

If you want to taste local Gullah fare, this is the place to to! Bill Green, and his wife Sara, are just delightful. Our party tried shrimp gumbo (tasty, but don't be surprised when you have to take the tail off yourself!), ribs (meaty and tasty), BBQ chicken (a bit dry), macaroni and cheese (awesome), and squash casserole (beyond awesome!). We all shared the best peach cobbler we've ever had.

This is an interesting little local spot. The hours are sporadic. It was opened only one of the two times I attempted to eat here. Fun things to look at on the wall and there was a short video about the gullah cooking showing on a tv on the wall. The owner came out and talked to us for a while.
