Cottage was large and well-appointed. The owners made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our stay here and will return if ever in the area. Worth the trip a couple of miles outside of Hill City downtown area.

We had two cottages. One for Grandpa and one for my family of five. It was clean, affordable, close to major attractions, and the owner was very helpful. We had the Nautical cottage and we got a portable bed and it had two queens, so it fit our family of 5. Fridge, coffee pot, and microwave. No utensils, FYI. So if you bring oatmeal or something, bring spoons.

Stayed in cabin called Aspen. Newly built, the cabin has been very well built. Spacious inside and well furnished. Chuck, the owner, was quite superb. Ultra helpful and full of good local advice. He has worked hard to set this place up.
BBQ's to grill in the evening, and a log fire lit around 7 pm every evening made this an immense place to stay. A mention too for his assistants, Rich and Dianne who were such delightful company. Four nights here passed by far too quickly. S Dakota is a long way from UK, but if we are ever out this way again, this will be our stopping place ! A huge thank you for everything

We stayed here for one night while visiting Mount Rushmore. We had the Tropical cottage and it was perfect for two people. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. Our room was extremely clean. I didn't feel the need to bring out the Lysol wipes. In the bathroom, there was mini Bath and Body Works soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and makeup removing wipes. Every night there is a nightly fire going. We would definitely stay here again.

After spending 10 days hitting motel after motel, we wanted a place where we could catch our breath. Whispering Winds did the trick wonderfully.
Family owned and operated, we felt like we were visiting friends.
The unit we had felt like a cabin, but was a wonderfully appointed room with a bath. Simple but super comfortable.
At night our hosts light a campfire, and have a wonderful central meeting place to meet people and socialize, or simply veg out.
Handy to Hill City a few miles away, we enjoyed the quiet and serenity of the Black Hills before heading the next day to Deadwood.
It's a nice central point to both Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. And if you're not looking to stay in Deadwood (although there's lots of accommodation there), it's a reasonable drive to Deadwood as well.
