I was told by my client to check this out. My husband come along for the ride but once we arrived he was very impressed with the workmanship on the building. We might have to come back earlier in the year.

Well worth a visit although it is open seasonal, so check if it is open before you go. Beautiful architecture, big gift shop full of Norwegian gifts and goodies, pleasant and knowledgeable staff.

A peaceful chapel to visit no matter what religion you are.
It's a reproduction of a church in Norway. The woodwork was absolutely amazing and the entire area was quite peaceful to visit.

My wife and I were visiting the area, and had been told about this church, and are glad we visited. The hand crafted roof tiles are a beautiful design element of this church.

We stopped here on out way out of Rapid City towards Deadwood and Spearfish Canyon. You drive through a residential area for about 5 minutes to reach the church, which is tucked away in a wooden enclave with a handful of houses - the setting is very serene.

Entrance is free, donations accepted. In addition to the church there's a tranquility path, small museum and visitors center.

The church is very well made and of course interesting architecture representing typical Norwegian stave church. When we visited, the side of the church appeared to be set up for an outdoor wedding - what a perfect setting that must have been!

Well worth the short detour from the main road. Plan about 30-45 minutes.
