Can't believe this place has been on my door step for years and never visited.
The menu is limited to about 5 dishes per course to choose from but I think this is for the better.
Loved the red mullet starter.
Great hosts and very good wine list.
Will definitely be returning soon.

Had a simply lovely meal at this restaurant, a starter of monkfish tails with chorizo & smoked paprika aioli was delicious, followed by braised beef with a red wine jus was equally tasty. Wine list was excellent & the proprietor was very knowledgeable about the local area, giving us good recommendations about day trips.

On a weekend visit to the Dartmouth Food Festival we had dinner at the Lytehouse with friends who had been before and it was an excellent choice. The husband and wife team clearly know what they are doing offering friendly service in an informal style and excellent food cooked with great care. Highly recommended.

Nice cosy atmosphere and warm welcome. We shared a starter of beetroot, goat cheese and caramelised walnuts which whilst tasty, lacked texture. Perhaps beetroot should have been roasted rather than baked? We both had venison haunch for main, beautifully melt in the mouth tender but so horrendously salty we sadly had to return it. There was no problem with this and the staff dealt with it well. Unfortunately the second serving of venison wasn't salty but was quite tough. Nice vegetables to accompany and good wine list. Mixed bag - definitely would try again as anybody can have an off day!
