We had walked a fair way into the town centre and were ready for a bite to eat and a nice cup of tea. There are several interesting little shops, galleries etc to browse around in the main street and we were drawn to this place because it combined a 'good as new' selection of clothes, bags, hats and cards and gifts with a little cafe on the first floor.
We both had a salad and a pot of tea and were very impressed with the food, which was fresh and beautifully presented. They even went out to buy some freshly baked bread for us which was delicious. The waitress was charming and made us feel at home. It was very busy and we had to wait a while but that didn't seem to matter and I had an interesting browse around the rest of the building whilst I was waiting!
We even went back later for a Devonshire cream tea which was fab!

On the first floor of what is essentially a gift shop, this small cafe offers a (relatively small) range of freshly made and delicious light meals. We drop in here whenever we are in Modbury, a charming small town, and have always had a good experience. Last week, we had one of the best Antipasti I've tasted for some time. The coffee is always excellent, generous in size and piping hot.

This small cafe is tucked away upstairs above the gift shop in this old Georgian building. Due to its small size, the cafe sensibly offers only a limited menu of light meals and cakes etc. We often visit for breakfast (bacon sandwich, smoked salmon &scrambled eggs) or a light salad type lunch. The food is tasty and home-cooked from fresh ingredients, but don’t expect a huge choice of dishes from the tiny kitchen. The coffee is always excellent. We especially like the cosy and charming atmosphere and the friendly attentive service.
