I am not local to Modbury. I have friends here and closeby. I came here on Feb 1st and late morning needed a snack. Tripadvisor threw up some options and I looked about for Top 'O the Steps. No sign of anywhere near any steps. I did find the unmarked blank sign above these premises that had a tea shop inside on the left and a used clothes area on the right. I have written a separate review of the combined place under the listing 'The Old Bakery' for which there are also signage problems but which seems to be the subtitle given to the catering part of a join or linked business. Please read that comment. I tried to upload frontage and an interior photos but it seems the Tripadvisor computer spotted them as duplicates so I couldn't submit them. Perhaps Tripadvisor could combine the two threads to reflect the reality and the element of duplicity.
As to the second hand clothing business, it obviously regards itself as being towards the retro top end but (and it made just the flash Modbury demographic that has inspired this) anyone looking for interesting stylish or high quality used clothing, might while in this street look not only at the extensive stock here but also at the remarkable collection on offer at the outstanding hospice charity shop just a couple of doors away!
A lot goes on in Modbury. There are a lot of high quality and interesting shops here still without listings not least the butcher, the deli and some home decor furnishing businesses.
