I enjoyed a walk the other day with a couple of local friends. We were near to STOKELY FARM SHOP and I suggested diving in for some refreshment. We tramped in wind blown and with muddy boots, and were welcomed. We didn`t place a huge order but the cheese scones were out of this world. Very big, full of flavour, FRESH and warm, no hint of having been microwaved. Tea was piping hot and lots of it.

We took a wander to look at the produce and had a natter with PAUL DURRANT the butcher. Hadn`t seen him and his wife for ages. Good to catch up. We weren`t actually shopping of course, but the meat looked great.

Other things I noticed were the cards, good selection.

Too cold to sit outside but I have done before in the summer. If you haven`t been before, do go.
Café has high standards, good choices and is GREAT VALUE. To be recommended.

We went here with no expectation as we'd only been in once a few years ago for some vegetables from the shop. In fact, today we were on our way to another cream tea place, when it became apparent that we weren't going to get to that place before it closed. So we ended up in Stokeley!

From the word go the young lady behind the counter was very welcoming and hospitable. Her customer service skills were spot on. The cream teas that we ordered were immense in size and quality - two good sized scones and dishes of jam and cream with good quality tea for a total of £4.50! Wow! I visit a lot of cream tea 'places' in this area in my work, and this was definitely the best value, by far. Great produce at a great price, served with a smile and in a nice environment - top marks! My American guests loved it.

Decided to 'pop in' for breakfast as we were feeling lazy. Unfortunately they were extremely busy and had many outstanding orders for cooked breakfasts when we arrived. They did tell us straight away that it would be at least 40 minutes but the weather was nice so we sat outside and teas and coffees did arrive after about 10 minutes. We checked a couple of times after the 40 mins were up but there was still no sign of the food. Eventually after 70 mins, and getting rather frustrated, the food did arrive and it was delicious - freshly cooked and very tasty indeed. It is a bit pricey for everyday but OK for a treat. Had we got this in 20 minutes then I would have possibly have given this five stars. The fours starts is a stretch and perhaps should have been three but were told about a lengthy wait and the food did compensate a long way hence the four stars. So, please gear up better for busy times because you know when you are going to be swamped (holiday periods when the sun is shining!!). By the way, the farm shop does sell exceptional local meat, and other goodies, which is well worth the visit on its own. Also, there is a play area for children which eased the boredom for my young niece whilst we waited.

Always call in here, great choice of local Devonshire produce, exceptional butchers and a great place for breakfast, lunches, snacks and (on this visit) afternoon tea! First class! Sat out in the warm September sunshine, idyllic!
