“Excellent House, Excellent Location and lots to do!”

We had a fantastic stay at the Manse House in Fochabers. The house itself is lovely, with excellent facilities and surrounding grounds providing everything you could want on site. Located very close to shops in Fochabers and a short drive to Elgin, this house proved a great place to base ourselves for daytime activities and a beer in the evening. Honestly couldn't recommend the house highly enough!

“absolutely incredible house!”

We hired the house after travelling to Scotland for a surprise party for my stepdaughter. We chose the house as it was well located, being close to family, and also a good size for the whole family.
I have to say we were delighted when we arrived, this house is beautiful! The photos do not do it justice - and we thought it looked great from them but the real thing is even better.
The house sits nestled in it's own extensive and beautiful grounds complete with tree swing, football nets and gazebo. The garden is just a delight, especially for children, ours spent ages exploring, finding little hidey holes and pathways behind trees and they loved filling up the bird feeders and watching them fly down to eat. You feel as though you are hidden away even though there is a school and shops close by.
The house itself is not only huge but really comfortable and homely. There is plenty of utensils and equipment in the kitchen and the oven is nice and roomy should you feel like cooking! Should the Scottish weather get a little wet then there is plenty to do within a reasonable distance by car and if you stay in then the Jacuzzi, gym and pool table will keep you well entertained, not to mention the supply of books and dvd's in the lounge.
I would highly recommend this house if you want beautiful surroundings where you can imagine you are far from the maddening crowd but still have the convenience of being close to local amenities. We are already considering coming back next year !

“Thoroughly recommendable.”

A group of us stayed at the property for as a base to explore the veritable delights of the speyside whisky festival. The house is situated in fantastic grounds which provides ample space for groups or families to enjoy. The house is complete with enviable amenities including a pool table in the basement and sauna - which we agreed was an added bonus to clear foggy heads from embracing the whisky perhaps a little too much on occasion. We found the locals to be most friendly and helpful and would implore anyone who was wishing to visit the area to stay at "the old manse". Great base, great house, great place!

“Fantastic Holiday Stay”
Reviewed 23 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We needed somewhere to stay before a family wedding, and what we got was a super holiday location. The house is big and old with bags of character and has everything you need for a good stay. It's grand but still homely. Furnishings are modern and comfortable. All the bedrooms are spacious, lovely old wooden shutters kept light out and the heat in. It was nice to light the real fire in the main living room in the evening, lots of wood available to use.
Big basement room with pool table and bar fridge and black light tubes, was really cosy down there. The gym room was separate, looked packed with kit but we didn't use.
Gorgeous big main bathroom with excellent shower and superb little sauna. Would need to time your whirlpool bath right for the hot water availability, I think. There's another bath in one of the en suites, too.
Lovely big hallway and staircase, very grand, plenty of room.
Kitchen was well appointed, though those used to cooking with gas or induction may find the electric hob slow. Note there's no washing machine. We enjoyed
We easily walked into town where there is a super ice cream shop, good butcher, baker, and a few other shops, it's a nice little town. From Fochabers we enjoyed visiting the incredible coast and also down beautiful Speyside, there was no shortage of things to see and do.
There's outside furniture and the covered gazebo, even a rope swing in one of the lovely big trees and the football goalposts discreetly watching over the lovely front lawn. We even used the telescope one night and viewed Jupiter and its moons. The house is very private and has loads of parking space.
Outside Fochabers, we would recommend a trip to the coast, try starting at the Spey Bay Dolphin centre, and pop in to the Buckie Fishing Heritage Centre. Reserve a table at Rockpool in Cullen, or if you miss out, try the cafe at the antique shop up the street. Inland, the Speyside Cooperage is a fascinating visit, and take a trip round one of the distilleries. Pluscarden Abbey is nearby, a free visit to see a beautiful building, and time a trip to hear the monks singing.
We had a super week, many thanks to the owners and caretaker for a friendly and welcoming stay.

We are glad you had a fantastic stay in our house and that you made use of the telescope.
We have now arranged to have washing and drying facilities included within the property and will look in to the electric cooker speed to see if anything can be done such as adding an induction hob to one side.
Thank you for your review.
