We came over for dinner as the hotel was recommended to us by a friend.
We started in the conservatory where we were served drinks and some complimentary canapés. After a chat with the owner (i think he likes chatting to his guests) we sat at the table.
They do have a set menu which, to be honest, looks really good so i went for it.
Before the starter we were brought a complimentary peas and tarragon veloute which was really nice. For starter i ordered the liver pate on fruity bread, which, admittedly, was one of the best I've ever had. The fruity bread and the pate go really well together. As a main i ordered (sorry i forgot the exact name of the dish) meat with steamed vegetables, roasted potatoes and mushrooms sauce, which sounds really simple and plain but it was cooked just perfectly and was delicious indeed. To finish it all off i ordered the chocolate cake with coulis and cream which was really nice.
So, to summarize: extremely good dinner in a really nice restaurant, yes expensive but totally worth the price, the chef clearly knows her stuff, so credit to her.
Should i be in the area again, i will most definitely try it again.
The hosts were also lovely people always up for a chat - when they're not busy of course.
The restaurant itself i think was really nice and the conservatory where we had drink even nicer.
We booked a table and although the restaurant was effectively empty i suggest you book rather than turning up there unannounced.
